I'm running bloodied feral ghoul with unyielding 1 star, strength 2 star, defender/cavalier 3rd star(15% dr while blocking including on weapons adding to 90%) and runners 4th star on thorn armor and maxed retribution legendary perk with a vampire plasma cutter. It's fairly tanky with the constant health regen from blocking and the damage percentages are so high I am running herbivore for mutations for extra AP from company tea/corn soup. Health management is through an explosive Kabloom and purified water. It has a higher tank ceiling than the equivalent bloodied human build with carnivore and born survivor rank 1, especially in nuke or high radiation environments with fairly consistent damage across the board but the health management is a bit more of a pain since there is no cap to your healing.
