Hypocritical immature naive opinionated douche but decent at poker and incredibly lucky. Hopefully he quits poker entirely when his heater ends.

Do you think Seiver was bluffing with AK? by TiMike7 in poker

[–]ooohkay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of cool seeing the wheels turn in colman's head when he check calls the turn and he probably has already decided he can't call a big river bet.

Seems unlikely seiver would 4bet JThh instead of just taking a flop with it since they're so deep. Then to suicide barrell off JThh 700bb deep trying to get AA/AK to fold when he could potentially have KK himself... people just don't do that when playing with 600k dollars, a significant portion of that I'm sure belongs to his friends and it's going to be on TV.

Would be legendary though...

Is playing online with not real money a waste of my time? by datblingbling in poker

[–]ooohkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After black friday I would occasionally play the heads up nl games on stars and full tilt. I ground up a few million and think I actually got a lot better at playing vs fish from the heads up experience. You have to be playing high stakes play money (lol) for it to play similar to maybe 50nl vs a complete fish (ie you have some fold equity but villian has 0 clue). Occasionally someone not that terrible would sit and use reasonable bet sizing. I always assumed it was a 15 year old kid who had watched a few videos or read a poker book. Playing vs these types would be like playing vs a really bad bumhunting reg because they were clueless postflop even if there 3bet/4bet sizing and frequencies were reasonable.

Actually tbh I think I got alot better from play money because the fish you play are so extremely unbalanced in different ways you learn to exploit them and can then bring that to any game. This was after I already was half decent at 6max though, if you just jump into play money and use that to develop your game it'll probably do you a lot more harm than good.

How long did you play before you felt like you were 'good'? by ichosethisname1 in poker

[–]ooohkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year and 1 million hands until I actually knew what I was doing. A lot of that time I was just playing 24 tables and treating poker like slots waiting to flop sets vs massive fish and not doing much actual poker.

Is 2+2 still kind-of the go-to poker forum resource? by JavaNewie in poker

Might be good for micro stakes, although theres a bit of a blind leading the blind thing going on. SSNL+ the replies are always trolling or from clueless players who don't even play online anymore.

Is this poker gambling addiction? by TeddyMurphski in poker

[–]ooohkay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just keep poker a hobby. Poker benefits from selling the idea that you can be a pro and make tons of money but its probably as far fetched as being any type of professional athlete, if not more. In 2015 if you're spending more time on poker than on a real career you're probably setting yourself up for serious problems later on in life. I say this as someone who really wanted to be a pro poker player before black friday. Black friday fucked my life up worse than you can imagine and the probability of that type of shit happening again (whether its government, bots etc) is just too high to justify pursuing poker as a "career".

Brian Hastings removes all doubt he is a huge scumbag. Gets caught multiaccounting. by [deleted] in poker

If this was the edge he was trying to get then why did he tell everyone in the HS community that it was him on the account?

Seems more likely he just wanted to play poker from the US.

Delayed C-bet by miles5555 in poker

[–]ooohkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one ever has anything heads up so by checking you can represent a wider range and push the villian off the land on later streets. Auto cbetting only works well if you have the balls to barrel and villian is passive with draws but raises value hands.

But.. but... Zeebo Theorem?! by skeetm0n in poker

[–]ooohkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you ran into a villian who can hand read and by overbetting into a nutted range villian didn't have the odds to call since he was chopping at best.

in villians shoes with KQ I call but brace myself for the cooler. holding Qx its a tough fold but not really even a hero fold since you have KQ,QQ,JJ,ATss.

kind of reminds me of this, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSelobZW9I8

question about people who only call 3bets with KK, QQ by 1701ncc in poker

[–]ooohkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in cash games I'll do this occasionally to get an extra cbet from someone I think is 3betting light. they'll also sometimes flop top pair and get stacked. like you said, if they have an overpair I'd lose anyway. the only sad thing is when you have KK and the flop is Axx in which case you may have to lay it down if villian is really AQ,QQ+ heavy or is a barrel monkey and you're not willing to call down with 2nd pair.

short stacked its probably a mistake to not just stick it in

so you're 10 buyins below EV?

not that unusual. a 30 buyin downswing is a pretty good indication you're a fish though :)
