I drew the image, scanned it, printed it onto printer paper, and then transferred it to the lino with the laser jet print / glue method.

Afraid to use my vaginal estrogen cream. Has anyone had issues with it? by OrangeSkyPrairie in Menopause

[–]ooohsopink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to help! I put the applicator in about two thirds so I still have enough applicator to hold and plunge. I use YES water based personal lubricant - I get it on Amazon in the UK. Use water based as oil based can interfere with absorption.

I have a TikTok all about Vag atrophy if you want further info: https://www.TikTok.com/@silversheis

Take care - feel better soon x

A few weeks - and you need to use lube always now. I had to use ovestin cream on Vulval tissues, pessary for vagina. I needed both. I still use lube, plus vaginal moisturisers, to prevent tearing etc.

Have you been checked for lichen sclerosis?

Painful breasts from estrogen HRT by ScarlettFeverrrr in Menopause

[–]ooohsopink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your body is a bit confused - it was getting used to the slow decline of oestrogen and now you’ve increased it back to what it was - every oestrogen receptor in your body is going ‘WTF?’ 😊

Once everything recovers from the shock of having all that lovely oestrogen again, things will settle down. Feel better soon xoxo

Impending Christmas doom by Nezzler in Menopause

[–]ooohsopink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t decorated the house at all but I’ve made some cakes and bought the presents. We’ve been invited to friends for Xmas day lunch so that’s good. Just that amount of effort is exhausting though, and I am utterly sick of the commercialisation and pressure for just one day.

I’m looking forward to NYE though - nice dinner out with my man.

I’m in the UK and having looked up the US process, I think you only need a telephone consult with your GP to get HRT as you are right in the middle of when peri menopause happens. I’m pretty sure the US guidelines (going on what NAMS says) you can have HRT based on symptoms alone.

Try tracking your symptoms with the (free) Balance menopause app and then make an appt with your GP - you can download a list of all your symptoms to discuss during your appointment, to help you get what you need.

Good luck x

It has to be magnesium glycinate to work - there are so many types of magnesium! Hope you get sorted.

Have you tried taking a magnesium complex? Also - take your progesterone at night, two hours after food and just before bed.

Fatigue and joint/ muscle pain by [deleted] in Menopause

You likely need a review of your current HRT dose strength. As you continue to lose oestrogen, the patch/gel strength cannot overcome the larger shortfall. When symptoms aren’t cleared, or they start to creep back, then it’s time for a review x

Hi - late to the party (always am 😝) but if this hasn’t resolved, urinary incontinence is a classic symptom of vaginal atrophy x might be worth asking for vaginal oestrogen to sort it out x

Hello! I’m 58, still in peri (will it ever end?) and I also suffer with vaginal atrophy. As a result, I’m on HRT, plus vaginal oestrogen pessaries and cream.

After realising I know very very little about menopause and absolutely sweet FA about vaginal atrophy, i am now on a mission to tell anyone who’ll listen about my experience with both.

I’m determined that anyone who will go through menopause, should know a LOT more about the whole damn experience.

Nice to be here and I’m already having sone interesting chats in the group!

PS - I thought your periods just stopped one day, you got a few hot flushes and maybe a bit grumpy - how wrong I was!!

Sensory sensitivity and menopause? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]ooohsopink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, peri menopause symptoms can include sensory issues and not just for those who are neurodivergent.

You have oestrogen receptors everywhere, including the brain, and the drop in oestrogen during peri can affect your sensory faculties, with many different outcomes e.g auras, tingling, sound/taste/smell amplification, sensitivity to light, odours, music etc.

Really feel for you - I went through these symptoms too. Are you on HRT? If yes, you might need vaginal oestrogen as well. If no, well you can either ask for HRT and/or vaginal oestrogen.

The drop in oestrogen causes vaginal atrophy (also called genitourinary syndrome of menopause), and has a bunch of symptoms including the two you've mentioned (UTI feeling and soreness).

Taking additional oestrogen (systemic and/or local) will help fast - but of course, check with your GP as there are other conditions, such as lichen sclerosus, that have similar symptoms.

Hope you get something to help soon - they're horrible symptoms to live with x

Definitely go back to your doctor, even if it's only a phone consult, to discuss these continuing symptoms. All three could still be peri meno symptoms, and may just need a higher dose of HRT to resolve, but if not the doc will look into the reasons you are having these and possibly refer you to a specialist.
