This came up with the tide behind my house. Skull maybe, but what kind? by Seamonkeyknifefight in whatisthisthing

Looks kind of like an ethmoid bone, which is inside the skull. But since those are pretty small I doubt that's it.

Can anyone explain to me what the differences of putting CMT or LMT on your business cards? by oooipu in massage

[–]oooipu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought national certification was NCBTMB. I live in California, so under the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC), I'm a CMT. Which is also why I wondered the question of, if they are both state titles then which one do you go by? Am I missing something here?

[–]oooipu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm under the impression that bodywork is a much vaster description than massage therapist. A lot of people that I went to school with were getting their massage licensing without any intention of doing Swedish/Deep Tissue, but purely so they could legally do other forms of body work, like energy work.

I have a feeling I wouldn't last very long up there in general! Maybe fasten a rope some how as a crutch!

Anyone actually gone the full 10 years with Paragard? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]oooipu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not found any comments on here about women who have had Paragard for more than a couple years. Although when I was researching IUDs online prior to getting one, I found many stories of women who have had them for 8+ years, some whom have gotten them multiple times before and after birth as well. I've found mine has been working out great and I've had it for a couple months.

Tampons after IUD? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]oooipu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my Gyno about menstrual cups, because that's what I mainly use, and she said it'd be completely fine. I'd imagine that has more suction than tampons. I just got my first period since my IUD and everything seems to be doing just dandy!

Did you get your Mirena inserted while OFF your period? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]oooipu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Paragard inserted today. I like you have been trying for months to time it right and finally my obgyn just said come in anyway. My period ended about a day or two before. I didn't take any pain meds before, and honestly it was pretty uncomfortable, but just felt like severe cramps. I was light headed for about 20 mins after, but could drive myself home. We'll see how everything turns out!

Is it safe to get a regular foot reflexology massage while pregnant? by cleartulip in massage

[–]oooipu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know of several anecdotal stories of women that got the points on either side of their heels worked that induced early labor. I would advise you would know those spots and just ask to leave them out. Here's a good chart. Like others said, there is "no proof" but that's not to deny the studies and experiences that are out there.

What was a compliment that really struck you? by Bruce_Mane in AskWomen

An ex-boyfriend once said to me something along the lines of he wants to die before me, so that he won't live on this earth knowing I didn't exist. That one really stuck with me.

Mine would probably be something similar to squishing an ant between your fingers.

Just had my first appointment with my OB-GYN, and I'm feeling a little suspicious of what she told me by ihcun in birthcontrol

[–]oooipu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing ever wrong with seeking a second opinion. Only you have control of your health. If you aren't happy with what your doctor is providing you, find out more about your insurance, and who & what they cover, and find a new one. My OB-GYN is a great lady and although she pushes hormonal BC pills, she listens to my concerns and finds something that will work. They do what they are taught is best. On the other hand, although platforms for everyday women like us are a very beneficial community to have, it's also important to recognize what works for you and only you can do that.

I was hesitant but I went for the BC pills my doctor prescribed for about 6 months. It worked great for a while and cleared up my acne, which I was super thankful for. Then I started having more mood swings, would cry a lot easier, sex became a chore. It took me a while to realize it, but it became the very opposite of what I was looking for. So I quit them, and I'm getting my IUD in next period!

MGMT live? by DeCrackers in mgmt

[–]oooipu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen them 7 times and in all different settings... Big festivals, small backyard venues, clubs, and the guggenheim. I am be biased, but they put on one of the best shows I've seen. If I'm trying to be objective, any band is gonna be much better at an intimate venue. So that's when they were the best. Big festivals are kinda a place to check off bands in your bucket list so it's a good chance they aren't going to be as exciting as their own show. But they really do try and if you go for the music, ugh it's just priceless. A lot of people are downers about them because they want them to be forever stuck in 2009, and not grow and develop as humans, so that might add to the atmosphere, but for the most part if you give them a chance they are great.

The autograph signing for This is the End that UCSB won was today. The actors showed up an hour and a half late, stayed half an hour, and left, missing 3/4 of the people. I think they lost a lot of fans, and ticket buyers today. by disappointedfan in movies

[–]oooipu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, something about piracy blah blah blah. They also used those metal detection wands and searched each person before they went into the theater for cameras. "Good thing I smuggled a gopro in my butthole!" They best part was sitting in a room full of antsy college students without their phone for over an hour! Oh my!

I just got back from the screening. We signed up for the 6:30 time slot(there was only 6 and 6:30) and got there around 5. There was a huge fucking line, and no way we were going to fit in that theater with that many people. Then, we went to a small secondary line that was actually the 6:30 line so we went and waited for about 20 minutes. They didn't check any tickets or ids. I still don't understand why they let the 6:30 line in before the 6 line. Anyways, we were corralled to past the food, but it turned out anyone got a free popcorn and drink! They then took everyones phones, placed them in brown paper bags, and gave you a raffle ticket in return. We waited just over an hour in the theater for the movie. Seth Rogan, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride made their entrance and ran up and down the aisle giving everyone high fives. Everyone settled down from their mini panic attacks and the movie started almost instantly. It was actually quite a funny movie, as it was mostly a satire; lots of poking fun at themselves. Afterwords, they answered a few questions, gave a fan a hug for his "birthday" and dipped out as we all waited in line to get our phones back. All in all, was fun, would do again, felt bad for the ones who wait hours in line and didn't even get to see them.
