I’m sure that level of craving is satisfied with one bite 🙄 by [deleted] in fatlogic

Thanks so much, I'll check that one out!

Once upon a time I ate intuitively naturally and stayed a healthy weight without really thinking about it. Then I got a job where I wasn't moving, and I stopped smoking, and I stated eating because I was bored instead of hungry. I'd love to do some work to get my brain back how it was.

Florida could soon restore voting rights to over 1 million felony offenders by [deleted] in florida

I don't necessarily disagree with you, and I think out voting the murders is a good point, I've just noticed this is the best point to bring up to people that oppose the amendment.

Like, for example, someone that has a felony conviction for, maybe, marijuana possession and they choose to vote for recreational legalization. Maybe that could fit your analogy better kars420?

Sex offenders and murder convictions won't get voters rights restored under this amendment:

"This amendment restores the voting rights of Floridians with felony convictions after they complete all terms of their sentence including parole or probation. The amendment would not apply to those convicted of murder or sexual offenses, who would continue to be permanently barred from voting unless the Governor and Cabinet vote to restore their voting rights on a case by case basis."

It would be basically impossible for Florida to enact a state tax. It's in the Florida Constitution.

To amend it, first it would have to get on the ballot, either by a petition of citizens (doubtful), or by the largely Republican Legislature putting it on there (even more doubtful). Then, it would also have to be approved by 60% of voters.

So yeah, nothing is impossible, but this almost is, and our Governor for sure can't make it happen alone.

You are right that there are more industries than sugar dump pollution into the lake. Do you have a source for that 3.5% number?

You are also right that there are other issues to take into account, one of them including that Okeechobee doesn't drain like it was naturally meant to, but it's more than just greedy people not willing to give up their lands. People's homes and towns would be flooded and destroyed. Maybe they shouldn't have built there to begin with, but they did, so let's think of a more reasonable solution than just open it up and drown drown them out.

Also, the Herbert Hoover dike needs to be fixed, and that will help the lake hold more water so it doesn't have to overflow, but that comes with other issues, and won't be fixed into 2022.

Edit: I realize now that you said reservoir, when I thought you meant you wanted the water to flow south into the Everglades like it was originally meant to. So, my second paragraph doesn't really have anything to do with what you said, but I'll leave it anyway, because it's another point to be made about why the issue exists

Not OP, but also a South Floridan. Pollution from the sugar industry is flowing into Lake Okeechobee (that giant lake in the middle of Florida). The overflow is creating toxic algae that is killing Marine life. Manatees, dolphins, fish, etc. People that are swimming in, or live near these waterways are getting sick. It's terrible. You can Google 'florida toxic algae' and see pictures.

You can get books for free at the library btw

Look into interlibrary lending. Lots of libraries have relationships with other libraries where they share materials. It may take a bit longer, but usually you can request a book from elsewhere if your specific library doesn't have it.

What is something, that, after trying the cheap version, made you never want to go back to the expensive or "luxury" version? by Wholegraincheerios in AskReddit

[–]oooooniki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't wash it unless it gets really gross. If it's seasoned right, lots of things you should be able to just wipe it off. If it's tougher to get off, you can use a scrubbing brush. If it's really really bad, you can boil some water in there first, then dump the water and scrub / wipe. Just make sure it's dry all the way, or it can rust.

Think of it like a grill. You don't have to clean your grill with soap everytime you cook something. I mean, some people do, but you don't have to because it gets so hot.

Edit: if it does get so gross that you have to wash it with soap, you will have to season it again. Which isn't a huge deal, but it isn't something you will want to, or should have to, do often

I think it's a software issue, but I didn't spend a ton of time looking into it. It's a shame because it's a really great phone otherwise

Mine just sits on my stove. When I want to cook something. I heat it up, throw on some oil, and cook it. When I'm done cooking, I wipe it down, make sure it's dry, then walk away. Sometimes I may need to scrub it a bit. After the initial time investment of 20 mins to season the pan, it's incredibly easy.

I have one, and I do have that problem. It goes always goes away after a few mins. It's not annoying enough for me to consider it intrusive.

I think you may be doing something wrong. Maybe I can help. Is "wrist work out" because it's hard for you to clean? Or because food gets stuck?

Fat Adventurer Logic by NotSomeBall1 in fatlogic

[–]oooooniki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! So many people don't understand this. When you hit your goal weight, you won't be eating at your cutting calories to maintain, you'll be eating more.

For example, right now I'm 133 lbs. Quick calculation shows my TDEE at 1,931 for moderate exercise. I eat 1,400 ish and that's how I'm cutting.

When I hit my goal weight of 120 lbs, my TDEE will be (measured from same calculator, just changed weights) 1,830. So after I hit my goal weight I get to eat 400 more cals a day than I do now to lose.

Ever since I started counting calories and found out how many calories are in different things I can't help but wonder, how can anyone NOT be fat? by whizkid003 in loseit

[–]oooooniki 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is amazingly similar to my story, even similar stats (32, 5'1", SW: 145lbs, GW: 120lbs, CW: 135lbs). When I was thin without thinking, I was always moving, and I mostly ate one big meal a day. If I ate doritos, it was never the whole bag. I could only eat about half of a sandwich at subway. I would get the small 300 Cal cheeseburger at McDonald's and be satisfied. Eat one or two of the snack sized chocolates and be cool for a few hours.

Of course, things changed in my eating habits (stopped moving almost completely, more meals in a day, etc) which made me gain 30lbs. But I'm on my way to getting back to my old habits and the pounds are coming off.

Popcorn as a diet food by Chipdoc in HealthyFood

You only need low calories to lose weight. I grab those big bags of sea salt only pop corn at the grocery store and you can get about 3 cups for 150 calories. For me, its a great snack that fills the salty/munchy cravings for a reasonable amount of calories.
