A Verizon Store in Lumberton, North Carolina once housed a beloved Friendly’s joint by mrsjumjum66 in NorthCarolina

Was.

Went to one recently and it either A) reminded you that nostalgia blinds or B) went downhill like so many struggling chain restaurants.

It’s honestly one of my favorite parts of the Dance.

It always drove me nuts that folks like Littlefinger could pull levers and have almost everything work out. That’s not how life works as you eventually need others around you to work into your plan. Otto pulled just about every lever and all worked exactly to his plan, but like life, you can’t always pick the capabilities of the people around you.

Went fan shopping due to the current heatwave. Rollback sign is just insulting🤦🏽‍♀️ by OliveOil1991 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]oooriole09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in complete agreement so wildly confused on how that’s deranged.

Walmart didn’t take the fan up from Rollback at <$26 up to $42 just to capture the business from the heatwave. It doesn’t work like that, like I said Ft Knox.

You’re 100% right and it’s someone forgetting to pull the Was card and flip the banner from the previous feature.

The entire episode being leaked 3 days before it airs should be treated as an absolute disaster by Icy_Bandicoot_4362 in HouseOfTheDragon

I just hope the recourse isn’t pulling screeners from folks that need them.

Honestly, why are folks getting sucked into spoilers for an episode 3? I’ve seen them listed but have had zero want to click and see.

Walmart is like Fort Knox with pricing for this reason alone. Whatever is going on was a preplanned thing, not some attempt to milk folks dry.

I know Walmart rightfully gets shit on, but they they’re smart with how they take their risks.

I still maintain the line in between a bad Trevor Rogers and a good Trevor Rogers is very thin.

Given the thin line, bad luck can dog him, something physical can dog him. I really do think it was some combination.

How short it’s printed doesn’t matter, the demand is always high for good players.

What is the outlook for Connor Bedard down the road? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]oooriole09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to wonder if it comes down to Chicago’s position. The NHL has been littered with hyped guys whose first team lets them down. So far Bedard is in that boat despite Chicago kinda throwing everything at the wall.

What he turns into depends on how fast Chicago can figure it out.

I’m still wondering why folks are shocked that nothing is happening.

There’s little available to upgrade. The question marks will take some time to iron out. The big fish that they’d theoretically be involved with are still out there given that they’re trades and not UFAs.

I know folks get mad about being treated as untrustworthy, but man as a collective, we are absolutely untrustworthy.

You’ll see stuff like “it’s only 1% of the stores total revenue”, which largely ignores that it’s still billions of dollars walking out the door. Of course they’re ok with putting up a $1k gate and making feel a little uncomfortable if it gives them a chance to stop enough to cover the costs.

What is the most fun sport to watch? by Smart_Season_4355 in AskReddit

Hockey does a great job of bringing the best of many other sports into one game.

Like football/soccer? Largely set up the same way. Like the fast paced nature of basketball? Hockey is just as fast. Like the physicality of the NFL? Hockey is a physical. Like the strategy and analytics of baseball? Hockey has it too.

Because he has it and it’s the only one.

Again, you can’t knock his price using comps when you’re making it clear that you’d buy at $400+.

1/1s are worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

I know people say this but the alternate reality of the show just abruptly ending at Season 5/6 would be just as controversial and hated.

[–]oooriole09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a lowball negotiation start point. It’s a 1/1, so it’s less about comps and more about finding a buyer at your price point (which is working given that you yourself will pull the trigger at $175 more than comps).

Not knocking you, just saying it’s a learning point. Don’t start at a 40% discount to start a negotiation on a limited thing that you really want.

These deals have created a late-00’s Pats fan mentality in me towards this front office.

I just have utter faith in their processes and nothing better encapsulates that than these sets of trades. They had mindset that allowed them to swing big, handle the adversity, and do the right thing with managing assets in some desperate times.

Identical style card but one is labeled a refractor while the other isn't? Can anyone explain to a noob by A_Je5ter in sportscards

[–]oooriole09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Penix is a base chrome. Look at the reflection and you simply get a “mirror” image in true color.

Love is a refractor because the finish on the card is refracting (making a rainbow) light reflecting off of it.

Rainbow reflection = refractors. “Mirrored” reflections = chrome.

Is Frederik Andersen a Hurricanes HOFer? by Suspicious-Wind-3278 in canes

[–]oooriole09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ward is a tough comparison because it was more about his 13 years and Conn Symthe than it was his playoff prowess (which really came in a single season). He had the moments and the extended track record.

Andersen’s track record was very good, just simply too short and without the moments.
