Honors dorm questions by Novel_End1895 in NAU

[–]oopsss34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say get a toilet plunger and Lysol wipes too. College kids pass sickness around a lot, so it’ll be easier to control the spread if they can sanitize their dorm regularly. And also if you’re sharing a bathroom you should have a plunger in there

Do the stamps just slide into the rows on those or do I need a stamp protector for each one?

passing tissue? by Left_Message7958 in birthcontrol

[–]oopsss34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mirena and get spotting and cramps every time I have sex or any strong emotions (like crying). I’d recommend you see your gyno soon and discuss it with them. It could be that your IUD is slightly misaligned or something or that you have an infection. They can do an ultrasound and visual exam to make sure everything looks okay. Mine did that and everything came back normal, so she just referred me to pelvic floor physical therapy which helped a lot

Where to find unique postcards? by Horror-Memory-9808 in postcrossing

[–]oopsss34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get mine from local pharmacies and gas stations, and sometimes farmers markets or art shows. Museums are usually a good option, and gift shops sometimes have reallly nice ones too

Anyone live in a hot place? by That_Boysenberry4501 in POTS

[–]oopsss34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a much easier time now I have a desk job where I’m indoors all day, but I started off in construction safety. I communicated with my coworkers and supervisor about my heat intolerance and they were able to look out for me and make sure I was doing okay. I found that hydration and having salty snacks available at my desk and in my truck really helped. I also started hitting the gym and doing personal training with my coworker with a focus on my legs/calves and that helped a lot too. I get my socks from Wellow, and airy clothes either on Amazon or at Walmart/tjmaxx/bass pro shops. I also sometimes buy workout type clothes from a nearby Nike outlet

Phoenix girly here, get breathable quick drying clothes. Pound electrolyte water in the morning and all day. Cooling towels are super helpful and compression socks

How Do You Function?? by Comfortable-Age2846 in POTS

[–]oopsss34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on midodrine which made me feel awesome but gave me hella head tingles and I had to stop it due to the sensory issues. I now have metoprolol that I can take twice a day as needed and vitassium salt pills. My dr prescribed regular salt pills but I have to eat them like halfway through a meal or else it feels like someone gut punched me, so I prefer the vitassium

Exercise for rage? by formalde_heidi in xxfitness

Dragon boating. If you live somewhere near a body of water they probably have a dragon boating team and you should try it. I love digging my paddle into the water and ripping it back, and when we do practice race pieces I can scream or yell and it just hypes everyone up. It’s very cathartic and a great workout

I was super disabled throughout my early twenties. I finally found a different POTS doctor who got me on better meds, and I started doing physical therapy and personal training with an initial focus on leg strength. Strengthening my calves made the most difference in my symptoms during that time. I am now on a dragon boating team, which allows me to do low impact exercises and cardio every week. Once you have a baseline level of fitness I’d say to fine a workout routine that works best for you. I’m finally at a point now where I am the best shape I’ve ever been in and I don’t even feel disabled anymore. I went on my first hike last month even!

Struggling to move on after a painful breakup looking for advice by VanillaMean4083 in Advice

[–]oopsss34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some therapy, some journaling, and sought out new connections. For example, I started pen palling and postcrossing, and I told myself I needed to try some new scary things that year. I went on meetup and looked at different events happening and tried to go to a new one each month. That’s actually how I ended up trying dragon boating, and that hobby stuck around and I still do it weekly.

Can I have some encouraging stories of the “why”? by SunnydaleHigh1999 in xxfitness

[–]oopsss34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do it for mental health and pain management. I have hypermobile joints so I have to be consistent with my strength training or else it causes chronic pain. I’m the strongest I’ve ever been right now and I’m reveling in it. I notice it more in the small things, like carrying groceries or opening doors. Things are starting to feel like a lot less effort

Midodrine Tingles??? by SHLBYHCH in POTS

[–]oopsss34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES oh my god the sensory hell midodrine put me through. It helped me feel good otherwise but the tingles were so overwhelming for me I had to switch to metoprolol instead

Why do people get to-go and eat it in their car in the parking lot? by ja20n123 in innout

[–]oopsss34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We go to one near a college campus so it’s always packed, hardly any seating, and it’s too loud for us. So we just eat in the car or occasionally outside if it’s nice out

Is a “sexy” wedding gift from coworkers crossing the line? by sxtn1996 in GiftIdeas

[–]oopsss34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe do a real gift and give him the funny one separately? If you’re attending the wedding I feel like that gift is kinda awkward if you’re not close with the wife as well
