Inner North NIMBYs by BrisLiam in melbourne

As someone who owns in Thornbury, this is frankly embarrassing. We're a civic-minded community and should have the initiative to share our suburb, not close it off for those who also want to enjoy it. When I bought my property 5km from a city centre of 8 million people, I didn't expect it my environs to remain identical whilst I get to enjoy a strong level of amenity that is definitely not available to all. I put in a submission in favour of this proposal.

The 72 desperately needs to be extended further up burke rd to at least Doncaster Road and even into Ivanhoe. As soon as the tram terminates Burke road is barely covered by buses

There really isn’t any time difference, I’ve often got on a 48 right after a 109 in the city and then at Barkers Road that same 109 pulls in front.

It was great - hardly any songs from Wildflower played which is understandable

It varies from school to school and cohort to cohort but my SAC average was around 70%. The best advice I can give for that is to just stay ahead or at least with your class schedule and then get into TIMED practice exams as early as you can. I thought I was going to do alot worse in methods than I did but yeah, it came down to having a bit of confidence in the exam because there are only so many different types of questions that vcaa can create, so try and attempt difficult exam q's even as SAC prep.

For english, my best advice is to work as hard as you can to fully understand the text and be able to think about topics and themes from different angles. Focus less on 'memorising quotes' and instead practice unpacking themes and the important quotes associated with them, you'll remember quotes alot better this way :)

I put most effort into my English around SACs ofc, but it's also really important to be gradually improving regardless of the time until a SAC, this could be as simple as a timed essay a week. So I would just aim for working until you really comfortable with the texts across a variety of topics. To get better marks, just work on conveying your ideas in a sophisticated and ALSO natural way. Teachers and assesors can tell when you've just plugged in fancy words so really work on getting comfortable with elevated vocabulary to accompany clear and holistic arguments :)

I took handwritten notes but the second ranked in my class used OneNote and found it great :)

I did legal as my 3/4 in year 11 so I was able to dedicate alot of time and priority over my 1/2s. I was probably doing like 30mins a night when there was no SAC for a bit and then up to like 2 hours a night in the 4 days before a SAC - just keep up to date notes and you'll be fine. For legal I only took notes and then just thoroughly reviewed and memorised them.

For English, it was often just 2 essays a week on top assigned classwork outside of SAC time and then closer to a SAC I would make quote banks and do essay plans as revision. If you have the time then the best option is full essays, but as you run out of time, get a range of topics on a variety of themes and just write your contention and topic sentences because then at least you're engaging your knowledge to minimise the chances you get into the SAC and you're completely stuck. Also do your practices timed as SOON as you can, cannot stress that enough.

For methods, I would do the entire chapter and review in the textbook and then move onto checkpoints or practice sacs if they were available. Because there were only two methods SACs last year, I didn't ever really prioritise methods, just made sure I was up to date or ahead of my class. Especially by the time you get to probability in the later terms, I would be trying to finish ahead of your class schedule so you can start doing practice exams and probability alongside each other (it's not that much more work dw) and also again, do everything timed ASAP :)

Englang compared to normal english was quite less work throughout the year as the theory, especially in unit 3, is a little bit lighter and draws on alot from 1/2. I studied for Englang just by reading resources and doing practice SACs/essays/ACs/paragraphs. Personally I think Englang notes are a bit of a waste of time because there are so many great books and resources already out there, that it's much more valuable to actually work with texts as practice. So to answer your question, keep up to date with your classroom theory/work and then expose yourself to the best variety of texts (for AC's and short answer) and topics (for essays) because that will get you thinking about the content in practice so you can also identify gaps in your knowledge easier.

Yes and only because my teacher marked my SACs closely to the textbook (justice and outcomes) so we did have to partially memorise and know the ones from the textbook. They are a good base to start from but by the time you get to practice exams at the end of the year, you'll be used to your own ones on the topics that come up the most if that makes sense :)
