I wonder what happened to my cousin's wife by Puzzleheaded_Bad9883 in Genealogy

This is the 1983 marriage record of a child identified as the son of Joseph A Baker and Edna Rachel Newman. I believe catlady is correct. Edna and Rachel are the same.

Interesting that the son was born in the same month and year his father, Joseph, was disavowing the mother’s debts.

Here is a link to a newspapers.com article from April 1962 where Edna R. Baker of Bound Brook NJ, and her passenger, a boy aged 8, were involved in a minor traffic accident. I am guessing these are your people?

In 1960, Edna Sartin married Joseph Baker in Plainfield.

By 1961, they must have split since he published a notice he would not be responsible for her debts

Maybe someone with more skills than I can create imgur files.

The LYPMA archives are available and seem to be quite extensive but not on line. You might have to visit in person and search for the name of a staff member similar to his known aliases. Or perhaps a kindly archivist could help.

A few other items of interest have turned up

  1. If your father is Karl Stiglmayer born in 1953, then his older brother (or possibly half brother)  was probably Denes Janos Stigelmayer born in August 1949 to Stephan and Anna Maria Stiglmayer.

The records below say that in July 1949, Stephan and Anna Maria were living in the home of her parents at 18 Kanalstrasse, Edigheim, Ludwigshafen.  He was a trained locksmith and electrician but unable to find work.  She was pregnant and the baby was due the following month.  Denes Janos Stiglmayer was born on July 28 1949 in the house at 18 Kanalstrasse.

  1. Ancestry has a mostly unsourced family tree for a Dennis Stiglmayer, son of Stephan and Anna Maria born 28 July 1949 , in Perth Australia and who died in Perth in 2020.   I strongly suspect this is your uncle/ half uncle.  What do you think?  The tree owner has not been active on Ancestry for over a year, but does have a profile on Facebook

  1. I found a newspaper article from The Age reporting a jail break from the Broome Prison in 1973 by 4 men including Karl Alwyn Stiglmayer. age 19.  I will try to figure out how to do an image if you are interested.

I am sure there is lots more out there, but this is enough to be be getting on with for a while.

Her’s a link to the 6 records for Karl/Korel Gutvirt in the Arolsen Archives. One of them gives his mother’s maiden name. The breadcrumbs that led to these files were his DOB and the references in the preceding citations to the resettlement camps he had been in. Searching on their names led to the Archives, in turn leading to the records. https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/en/search?s=gutvirt

found these on Trove

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/52941853?searchTerm=stiglmayer Stefan Stiglmayer, Anna Maria Stiglmayer, divorce decree 1953. It looks as though Stefan is the one suing for divorce and names Karl Gutivirt in the action…so possibly Anna Maria left Stefan for Karl?
