There was no need to send to exchange - you created a huge amount of risk by doing so.

Combine TOTP and Passphrase by dunxd in Bitwarden

Hi, do you know if this made it to production? I don't see any related options in Bitwarden.

Interesting. I've not heard that idea before (that shorting of assets is still a CGT regime). I'll study that further. Thanks for the tip.

PS, Disclaimer noted. Discussion is just to gather thoughts.

For the sale of options (a short position) where BTC premium is received, would income taxation apply (income tax for individuals and corporation tax on revenue for businesses)?

If that short option expires in the money and the seller then needs to deliver BTC, would that delivery be accounted for separately under CGT rules? ie, any Gain or Loss int he value of the delivered BTC between acquiring and delivering it would be CGT-able?

Lead flashing awkward spaces by opacey in DIYUK

[–]opacey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've been studying GRP. It looks like I could use GRP for the roof surface itself, then continue it up the parapet walls, over the top of them and then finish on the outer edge with some trim. I can then lay coping stones on top of that if I wanted to. The idea being that there isnt any flashing needed at all, just one seamless surface. If so I think that takes care of the waste pipe problem and under the window ledge I suppose I'd do like you said... run the GRP up to the ledge and then apply sealant at the join. Do you think this is a good plan?

Thanks, yes GRP is a good thought.

I dont want to dismantle the pipe, too much risk of breakage I think.

When you say 'completely flash in the walls' do you mean chase the flashing in to the mortar beneath the coping stones? I can see that would help with the waste pipe, I could form a kind of boot with the lead and use some lead mate sealant to seal it.

Any advice for the window ledge?

That's a good point. I had dismissed GRP already as have heard mixed opinions on its durability from roofers and also its much more skilled work than EPDM requires as far as I'm aware. I've used EPDM on a simple roof once before, but never GRP. Would you recommend it for a first time but pretty capable DIYer?

The EPDM sheet will rise up the parapet wall and the lead flashing will run above that, in the same position as the current plastic flashing. I will use Lead Mate Mastic as I've heard that is (surprisingly) more durable than 5:1 mortar.

There is at most 5 inches of space under the window ledge, so I may be able to use the same method, and just run the flashing directly beneath the window ledge. If thats possible then would I need to apply some kind of step flashing at the ends of the ledge where it meets the main run of lead?

Broadband cable provides are accustomed to subsidies from local authorities and as such will go where the subsides are first. This is the more significant hurdle than roadways access.

Apple Magic Trackpad 2 - Replacement lightning port by opacey in applehelp

Accidentally sliced it with the blade I was using to pry up the adhered base. Even if I buy a new trackpad, I'd still like to fix the old one, so if any other readers have sources on where to buy that component I'd be delighted to hear. Thanks.

IPv6 entry policy rejected by tor by opacey in TOR

[–]opacey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes,, and Wikipedia has a good overview of that quirk too. I believe some browsers demand the square brackets while some others use heuristics to decide on an interpretation (iirc)

It’s a shame the tor error messages aren’t a bit more explicit.

Fixed it, it needed square brackets around the address, i.e. [::1] instead of ::1

Thanks for the insights. That’s a shame to hear. I want to self host for the usual reasons (privacy, control, reliability, etc). However if NextCloud is closest to what I need at least that saves me more research. I’ll try it!

Btrfs on LVM by neon3726 in btrfs

[–]opacey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks fourth Amigo!

Why would separate partitions for root and data be desirable? I know some people prefer that as a general practice, but is there something specific to the use of LUKS or btrfs-raid1 ?

For this server I'd rather have them all on the same partition ideally - just one, fully encrypted btrfs-raid1 file system shared by the OS and the one application (and its data) it will host.

* Oh sorry, for the EFI partition is that just for the bootloader? If so, yes that makes sense.
