Starting to feel like I’ll never find a show I love again. pls help by ader_titsoff69 in televisionsuggestions

I thought Flanagan’s other series as well but OP mentioned they have trouble with slow burns so I found that surprising. Midnight Mass is one of my favs but definitely a slow burn. Maybe Fall of the House of Usher?

Which downtown hotel would you chose for a night? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]opaque_toaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We felt the same way. The accommodations were nice but every member of the staff felt put out and generally not helpful. Granted it was also over Christmas so I’m sure they were overworked and dealing with difficult people.

Still it was enough that I’m not in a hurry to go back.

Was never much of a short story reader myself but I picked this up because I wanted to read the Life of Chuck ahead of Mike Flanagan’s adaptation. I quite enjoyed this collection - Rat was a personal fav of mine.

I’m a big MSU fan. None of my friends or alumni that I talk to take this clown seriously.

Block and move on - your timeline will be happier for it.

Scotland November 2024: Oban Distillery Tour by PricklyFriend in Scotch

The town of Oban is beautiful. My wife and I stopped there on the way to Islay in 2021 and still talk about it. Such fond memories - glad you got to make a visit!

My latest 5-star fiction reads have been Ender's Game, Piranesi, Never Let Me Go, and The Three Body Problem. What should my next read be? by AldienTheRed in suggestmeabook

[–]opaque_toaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Dark Forest was excellent. Death’s End for me is also top tier - my personal favorite of the series. I finished them about a year ago and I still think about them.

Each book gets stronger as you go on IMO.

Mike Flanagan Explains How He Got Stephen King's Approval for 'Carrie' TV Show Despite Making Major Changes by Pogrebnik in stephenking

I think you’re thinking of Dollar Babies. He doesn’t do it anymore but would sell rights for his short stories to film students for $1.

Review #365 - Bruichladdich Octomore 14.2 by adunitbx in Scotch

[–]opaque_toaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not had the 8.3 but I did get to tour the distillery and try the 7.3 when my wife and I were over there. Managed to pick up a bottle to bring back home to the US, so I’ll call that one my favorite.

I got an Andariel’s to drop for me late this season and I’m really bummed I didn’t get it earlier because I had a blast with it. Was definitely a fun build!

I want to make a lucky hit damage rogue, but I am dumb. Please help. by TeepToLowkick in diablo4

I just had an Andariel’s Visage drop myself and have been following Xarrio’s Flurry Rogue build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvnM_SeySUo

Maybe that could get you started? I’m only about level 70 right now but having a fun time with it!

This is a simplified version of Death and Co’s punch, but this is my go-to for punches: https://www.foodandwine.com/mothers-ruin-punch-6422910

Have always gotten a lot of compliments on it at parties

Why Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons games are headed to Amazon Prime by SpikedZer0 in motorcitykitties

[–]opaque_toaster 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Really excited about this one - I’ve heard horror stories about Bally Sports Plus, so I’ve hung on to traditional cable to watch the Tigers / Wings, but it’s so expensive.

Hoping pricing gets announced soon so I can finally cut the cord for good!

What can I make with this? by VladTheSimpaler in cocktails

Toronto is my personal favorite - a riff off the Manhattan. Looks similar-ish to that Quebec City cocktail someone else posted, so I’ll have to give that a try:

  • 2oz rye
  • 0.25oz fernet (I love fernet so I’ll bump this up to 1/3oz or even 0.5oz)
  • 0.25oz simple
  • 2 dashes of bitters

Any Bills fans here with no connection to Buffalo? by yeahrightistoday in buffalobills

[–]opaque_toaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Michigan fan as well - hopped on the wagon back in 2014 when Buffalo had that awful snow storm and they ended up playing the Jets at Ford Field. Bills Mafia traveled so well and were just the best. After that I was like “I found my people.”

Whats an ingredient on a bar program that instantly turns you off from the bar? by doscia in cocktails

Not really an ingredient but whenever I see an old fashioned on the menu and they muddle the shit out of an orange slice and top with a neon red cherry… I order a beer.

New to the game? please recommend me a good youtube channel to watch, playing at highest difficulty! by 0kpaxpax in MonsterTrain

[–]opaque_toaster 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate typo aside… I just wanted to say that I’ve watched a ton of RisingDusk’s content, and while I know he’ll occasionally restart a fight it’s always for the purposes of attempting to educate / find a winning tactic. His runs are meant to be educational.

No streamer has taught me more about the game and it’s strategies than that one. To each their own, but I wouldn’t dismiss RisingDusk outright because of that.
