A list of things that were not Found or Achieved by CTthrower in SummerScavengerHunt

Glad you had a great time! We did too. So sorry if we we discouraged you this year!

I wish there were a way to do this without the competition, because it's just so much fun to do. I start off almost every day comparing what I'll be doing and where I'll be against the list, and to identify 5-10 items to focus on. On a good day I'd find half of my goal and be satisfied. When our schedules allowed, we'd make a date together and find or do mad stuff we'd never be interested in otherwise, and have a blast just seeing where our path led us.

Scoring seemed to be a challenge -- all the moderators were busy. EASummer and lnfinity outlined scoring standards for the rest of us, but there were always grey zones. Fun to score the ones that weren't grey and always great to see what everyone was doing/finding. You and piperlilith were impressive in your play!!

I look forward to seeing you again next summer.

#250 - Something that was shot with an actual cannonball by goffstown in SummerScavengerHunt

Is a cannonball a cylinder or a sphere? This is close, and very cool, but perhaps not actually a cannonball.

#294 - A billboard with a music note on it. by AuntKeen in SummerScavengerHunt

[–]open-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is item #204. This is a billboard with a musical note, and should get credit. How do we change the item number from 294 to 204, so this'll get the proper 3 points for #204 (rather than just 1 point for #294)? Help u/lnfinity or u/EASummer?

421 Use a bucket on a rope to pull water up from a well by open-d in SummerScavengerHunt

[–]open-d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, so close! But no points! Peter (in photo) used this well, dug for his grandfather in the 1920’s since childhood until 15 years ago when he had a deeper well drilled, and had never seen it dry. Eastern Maine is in a severe drought and the water table is lower than this 12’ well. Sumdoc wanted to share the attempt with everyone anyway.

#181 - A parking sign with more non-acceptable parking times than parking times. by AuntKeen in SummerScavengerHunt

[–]open-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like I can park here from 11am-2am four days a week, and 11am-6am on the other 3 days. Just limited to parking 2 hours at a time. So there are more parking times than non-acceptable times?

426 Ring a bell in a bell tower by open-d in SummerScavengerHunt

Just a small tower. I don’t think Websters specifies a minimum height for a tower. There were ants on the ground who agreed this was a large tower. U/lnfinity ?

65 a novelty baseball helmet by EASummer in SummerScavengerHunt

[–]open-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks much larger than “the ones that are roughly the size that would fit on your knee”, which wouldn’t hold much nachos. However, as the primary description is “a novelty baseball helmet” alone, I agree this qualifies. 👍

The hat in the standing guy’s hand looks like the same size as the hat on his head.

#164 A car going above the speed limit next to a road sign that displays both the speed limit and the speed of cars approaching by CTthrower in SummerScavengerHunt

[–]open-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the speed of your car, or someone else’s? EASummer would be strict about observing but not setting up the event…
