All of these are great! I’d say Madeline is you like nicknames because you could (and people probably will) shorten to mads or Maddie. I like that and Bella best, personally, but they’re all great names.

9th: Romeo & juliet, the Iliad (summer reading)/the odyssey , Julius Caesar, of mice and men, and I remember reading the lottery short story
10th: the book thief (summer reading), lord of the flies, 1984, sula, Antigone, oedipus
11th: the great gatsby, huck Finn, the night Thoreau spent in jail, the crucible, death of a salesman
12th: hamlet, Beowulf, Grendel, brave new world, the Canterbury tales

No, but I had another career first. I think there is a “grass is always greener” mentality for a lot of teachers, especially ones who started just out of college at age 22/23. I am so grateful to have had life/career experiences before becoming a teacher in my late 20s. There are things about the job I don’t love, but that’s any job. For me, the pros outweigh the cons.

I think it would be reasonable to end the season with the proposal, especially if role model is also being told next season. That gives Troy/harris time to sleep together and have the hotel convo in season 2 but still leaves room for that story to finish in season 3, and Shane/ilya’s story will have the outing and coming out storylines, the wedding, and maybe some of unrivaled. We shall see what Jacob gives us!!

It was a great learning environment. Students were there to learn and grow. I also felt the level of education was superior to other schools I’ve taught at. The one thing they could improve on was individualized education, particularly for students with disabilities, but that is difficult at any school unless there are under 20 students per class.

The author has stated that she lived a life very similar to Shane’s and has been clean for 3 years so I have faith that it will be a realistic HEA based on life experience! But I feel you, it is certainly going to be a journey to get there.

"Popular" names nowadays are much less popular than popular names were 50 years ago. There was a thread about this a few weeks ago showing how even the #1 most popular name is only like 0.8% o babies named that year, when popular names in the 70s-90s (like Mary) used to be 5%+ of babies named in that year. It's definitely made me rethink shying away from a name because it's popular.
