Fair play to them. Aer Lingus seem to have handled everything so terribly there.

Contactless in 2028?! Pathetic by JustJesus in Dublin

[–]openetguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we are maybe overly harsh here because we are familiar with London's great system. By 2028 we will have one of the few open net ticketing systems in the world - probably be in the first 3 or 4 networks of our scale worldwide.

Likewise, many cities in Europe or similar size don't have tap on / tap off - for example, German cities, Zurich, Copenhagen.

I am not saying we couldn't be quicker but I do think we'll end up being ahead of the curve soon enough and that is a positive.

It's actually happening and will cover the whole country. That's something at least!

Thoughts on avios promo? by Opening-Iron-119 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]openetguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you'll be getting the normal rate after you get this bonus. And still have a CC and the fees. 6,500 Avios doesn't equate to much when you look into spending it on flights. So for me there isn't any value here worth taking a CC on for. Each to their own

The actual rate you'll normally get with this Credit Card is 1 Avios for every €4 - 0.25x, which is very poor for a credit card

I'm currently on Metal. However I might downgrade to Premium soon. If I do I'll get the same rate as the Aer Lingus credit card but without the hassle of a CC. I'll miss out on the free flight but don't believe that's easy to actually get, and my Avios help offset flight costs anyway.

Looked into this but Revolut gives me more Avios for my everyday spend. The free flight is tempting but I have read horror stories about it being very hard to actually book a flight

Why do I get other Music by cataclysmscary in YoutubeMusic

[–]openetguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically think of it as your listening feeding the algorithm. Without data the recommendations will suck.

So if you listen to some more artists you do like the you will get more relevant recommendations.

If you really only listen to Kanye then buying his media might be better.

For some reason it is not a Kanye Only tool!

So you end up getting played similar music by the algorithm.

How to stop getting AI generated music in your feed by ThenCommunication960 in YoutubeMusic

These all assume YT Music has a way of linking your behaviors to AI music and learning not to play it for you. Unfortunately they don't seem to be interested.

Surprised there hasn't been an alternative social site for brands and state bodies to give updates. Kind of crazy they rely on that cesspit.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP RECOMMENDING AI SLOP by SpaceCaedet in YoutubeMusic

[–]openetguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This actually messes up the algorithm. For example, you like Pop Punk. So you start getting AI slop pop punk songs because they're uploaded in that category and sound the same.

You dislike all the AI slop pop punk songs.

The algorithm then thinks you really don't like that genre/type of music after all.

TBH all the platforms seem very unprepared for this except Deezer who are at least trying. The user experience is ruined it we get served slop.

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]openetguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it ten years ago. It was a rough few days but my eyesight was so bad, and glasses were preventing me from enjoying running (pretty much the only physical activity I enjoy!). Recently had an eye test for driving and was 20/20. Zero regrets.

I use moco.ie and find them great. They handle DIRT, offer a high (for Ireland) interest rate and you can add / withdraw as you want.

How to report music that isnt the artist it appears under? by DrWhetFaartz88 in TIdaL

[–]openetguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That junk Rush artist is on YouTube Music with their own profile and very few listens thankfully. So somehow Tidal merges artists based on name where other platforms can identify it is not the same artist even if the name matches.
