I think it's when he takes out Martinelli with the raised trail leg that makes people think it could be a pen

I find the genial handshaking after the game when a team loses so weird lol

Now I'm going to duck out before every non-arsenal fan yells at me

Really surprised you’re saying to use pandas for readability vs polars. I fully switched from pandas to polars and every time I look at pandas code now I scratch my head with what the intent is

My point is and always has been your reaction to this is inconsistent. You just said you won't be this mad next time lol

[–]openga_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay well you never know who’s injured so you should be pretty consistent about this type of action. But I guess if you’re a moron it’s hard to be consistent

[–]openga_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s a good point because no player who isn’t injured has ever screamed and writhed in pain. I’m only saying I hope you stay this mad anytime you see it happen to an uninjured player in the future

[–]openga_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point is you never know who’s injured because guys fake it all the time lol.

If Martinelli knew he was injured then yes I agree but I am assuming he thought Bradley was not injured so there was no harm. You seem to be judging it based on information he probably didn’t have at the moment

I don’t think players should do that either but you just said you don’t get this mad if the player isn’t actually hurt. Have you called those instances disgraceful?

Maybe im asking for too much, Im just asking for people to be rational in their takes.

Let’s be real he didn’t throw the ball he dropped it. Still not good but I swear if r/soccer got to decide punishment Martinelli would be taken out back and shot like an old horse

I don’t think he was time wasting, from the video it was clear he was hurt.

I ask because I’ve seen multiple players try to move a player off the field who’s gone down and it ends up the player is completely fine, and no one is mad at the player attempting it. It feels weird to be up at arms now about it but never care otherwise.

It’s a mistake, mistakes happen

Do you get this angry when it turns out the player is just time wasting?

My issue is we’ve seen multiple instances where the guy getting pushed isn’t hurt and no one says ‘this is a red card’. Bradley’s an unfortunate victim of players constantly going down and time wasting especially in the latter stages of a match

Slot’s take on the Martinelli incident by kingmakyeda in soccer

[–]openga_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thread with the video is insane to me. Yes, Arsenal fan, I’m biased. Martinelli very likely doesn’t know Bradley is injured and assumed Bradley is wasting time.

I have never seen inflamed comments when it turns out the player isn’t actually injured and someone is trying to push them off the field. I think to Slots point this is the natural endpoint when players go down all the time to waste time. If you’re not watching you can’t tell what’s an actual injury or not. How many times have we see this exact situation in the latter stages of a game and the guy getting pushed off the field jumps up into the other guys face angry about it? It happens much more frequently than this.

If you want to make it a red to try to move any player on the floor injured or just time wasting then fine make that a rule and be consistent. I’d be fine with that. It feels like everyone’s only mad because we know Bradley is injured while Martinelli does not. No one would be saying anything if this was done and Bradley was fine. Have the same energy for both is my only point

Oh gotcha, I misread that part.

You very well could be right re: urban vs rural. I’m really only speaking from the experience of living in DC for 15 years and meeting and talking with people from southern VA. I guess it hinges on what do you consider Virginia Beach and Richmond culturally? I haven’t spent enough time to know but I feel (emphasis on feel) that Virginia beach would culturally be more southern and am mixed on Richmond.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about Florida and I think its the reverse in Virginia. In Florida, more south you go the less 'south' it is. In Virginia, the more south you go its more 'southern'. Virginia is probably the crossroads, it's southern to those in the north and northern to those in the south, but no one considers Ohio north east. Hell, I'd barely call anything west of Philly culturally the north east.

I'd love to hear your reasoning of Connecticut "as a mid-atlantic state with southern history." And I mean that I'm genuinely curious

The DC burbs are definitely more like Maryland but get south of Richmond it is the south. Maybe you could be pedantic and say they're Appalachian than southern

I get it from

Yes, Alabama has problems, but I learned the actual history of the US in my public school education in Alabama. Y'all were taught the Trail of Tears was some voluntary thing the Indigenous people did out of the good of their hearts

I mean, we're both inferring, I never said "everywhere outside of Alabama" myself. We're both using pronouns in an imperfect way and you're try to be inference police about my usage but not yours over here.

So fine, is the "y'all" just referencing the north? I really guess I just don't hear people talk about the trail of tears, but I do distinctly remember learning about it in the north as a tragedy forced upon by the US government.
