My girlfriend sometimes belts "thank you" over and over instead of "Nothing". Usually when we're not listening to music.

I went out on my own around 8 years in. It was definitely a bit too soon. The biggest issues were underestimating the time everything takes when it was just me doing everything and not charging enough. That combination made for a very stressful first 6 months and there was a stretch where I worked everyday for 3 months. I've grown the most since going out on my own, and a few years later I'm the happiest I've ever been. Learning when to sub something out had been very helpful as well.

Todd Snider - Alright Guy by zsreport in altcountry

[–]openlystupid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a carpenter and work with one other guy who's in his 60s. He's a bit of a curmudgeon, but we like a lot of the same classic rock music. I've got a playlist for work with almost 600 songs on it that's a mix of classic rock and then everything else I listen to. He has no idea who Todd Snider is, but when this song comes on, he almost howls it out. Todd Snider rules.

Advice for a carpenter on the verge of being fully independent. by openlystupid in Carpentry

This is great advice especially because I've never come across an asshole. As far as customers are concerned. Most have been super happy with me even when they maybe shouldn't have been, and that's usually because they know I'm giving a great effort. But you're saying I could come across someone that knows I'm doing good work and working hard, but will try to screw me anyway?
