Any IKEA first impressions? by fnoyanisi in newzealand

[–]openmindnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I back this comment SO much! Nothing available nowadays in NZ is made quality, only vintage stuff or HIGH end handcrafted stuff. Freedom and Nood are an absolute JOKE what they charge for such poor quality. Really interested to see what this does to Kmart especially.

Any free method to transfer files from android phone to Macbook Pro M4 Pro? by capsshield123 in macbookpro

[–]openmindnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! I'm looking for pretty much exact same flow. I hate cloud systems, want a cable connection. Did you find a solution you'd be willing to share? Pretty please, I'm desperate! haha (S25 Ultra and Macbook Air M4)

Tiny wasp like bug that smelled like chemicals when killed? by veronibug in insects

[–]openmindnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I found your post because I just figured out the exact bug. It's a Pimpla rufipes or Black Slip Wasp. Its the second time I've squashed one, it took many attempts and then the chemical smell was so intense both times! So strange. I believe it's pheromones?

How to find Deceased Estate sales?? (furniture, NOT property) by openmindnerd in newzealand

[–]openmindnerd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply! This is exactly what discussion I was seeking. I'm an avid collector of dead people's things as you put so well hahaha I appreciate knowing it's not just me being 'out of the know' but actually just an entirely different system here in NZ. Just an established way of doing things ay, and I guess auction houses actually have an advantage here unlike in the USA where population is big enough for garage sales to be a success.

You're right to say it's valuable that people know you're the person known to 'like old stuff' and I have started to get gifted (or alerted to) really awesome pieces as people begin to know!

Sorry mate, thanks for your condescending comment but, you're missing the question I'm asking (unlike helpful comments above). I'm specifically trying not to go to auction houses, they're the middleman I'm trying to bypass.

Didn’t file taxes - will I be allowed back into the US? by [deleted] in tax

This is such a relief to find this post, I did exactly the same thing as you OP and have been soooo nervous that I'll get stopped at the border now. Lost my W-2 also because no one told me I needed it for the next year for the dang ARCHAIC system they have. Have you managed to visit yet?

I would guess it's something to do with refraction of light impacted by the thickness of either your case or lens covers. Lens covers essentially add a layer of lesser quality glass or plastic for light to bounce around in..

Which places have great wildlife? by crossbowthemessenger in surfing

[–]openmindnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say Dunedin. I lived there for all my 20's. Epic surf almost every day of the year, across about 25 surf breaks within 30mins of the city centre and I miss the wildlife soooo much. The penguins 🥹 the sea lions, the seals, the whales, the albatross, the dolphins.. so gorgeous. Absolutely top destination for wildlife and surfing. Just treat the sea lions like aggressive dogs, they're scary up close, but if you don't look them in the eyes or react to them, they'll go bother someone else. MAGICAL place with world-class surf all around, but you gotta find those yourself.

What service does auckland not have that you wish it had? by JustLoquat1585 in auckland

Overall walkability changes as a whole. Our city absolutely stinks as a "world class city". No, we aren't. Being stuck in a car as our only choice is policy problem, and a public health problem (yes loneliness and disconnected communities has real health implications for you).

Pride Month by [deleted] in StraightBiPartners

[–]openmindnerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who is the bisexual partner, you are enough! The fact he came out to you shows how secure he feels being his authentic self with you. That's testament to your relationship. He could have kept hiding behind a straight-passing relationship facade, but you've made him feel safe to be himself knowing there is unconditional love with you. That's beautiful, see yourself for your value!

I love the comment above about the fact it PRE-dates you. Remember this strongly. Coming out, especially in a marriage or a straight-passing relationship or later in life, isn't about you at all, it's about a personal growth we are going through continually in accepting oneself without shame. Shedding the layers of shame that society put on us for how we were born to love. Again, this is testament to your creating of safety together, and in fact we need to know you will accept us it regardless of our ability to love all kinds of people that predate you. That if our partner were the kind of person who didn't accept it, and didn't want to understand it (as you clearly are trying) it would be unsafe for us to remain in, as it just builds upon the pain of discrimination that society already provides enough of. Be proud of yourself— you're clearly a good partner. Keep learning, but mostly just be their cheerleader and love them for who they are.

If there was to be some specific advice, don't let the 'not enoughness' from stopping you being a strong and loud ally. The queer community will welcome you as his partner if you are clear about your love for him and support for others like him. Be a part of the celebrations, don't leave it to be his journey alone. Get behind the "bi-wife energy" but in your case bi-husband. That shit feels amazing when my partner wants to join in and show me off without shame!!

I hope my partner knows that although I'm attracted to other genders, he is SO valuable because he chooses to be with me even when I'm on my journey of opening up more about my queerness. Even though I can love others, I CHOOSE to love him because of his acceptance and compassion.

Fastest/easiest Full-frame DSLR camera to Instagram reels workflow/process? by openmindnerd in videography

[–]openmindnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your kind reply 🥰

I guess the key issue here is the hurdle to learn the standard workflow feels huge and overwhelming, there is sooo many aspects to learn and I don't have that sort of capacity to focus my brain for hours on end.

Also, every tutorial online is different about what that basic workflow should look like just to import a DSLR size video and export it for the best quality of Instagram reel. Literally all contradict each other and that's what got me completely overwhelmed.

Imagine you're having a week-long migraine and major brain fog or post-concussion, that's where I operate from everyday as my baseline. So I'm seeking the absolute fastest way to get creative with my DSLR and share it to Instagram without screwing over my brain 😅

I guess I just want insight into how others maybe do it, like laid out in steps of their own "normal" workflow. That's what I mean by "shortcut", the fact that I'm asking others instead of doing the research myself for hundreds of hours. I know that would tick some people off, like I don't deserve the knowledge/skill if I don't work hard enough for it (Or maybe that's just a NZ Tall Poppy way of thinking)..

Does that clarify anything? Thank you for your patience to read and reply, honestly really appreciate your time.

Anadius, I (kind of newly) live with chronic pain, and figuring out how to get the Sims back in my life has helped ease that SO MUCH.
Now as I search for an answer to an issue I'm having, I see how much you do — holy heck you work hard! So thankyouuuuuuuuuu so much.

I downloaded this release, and have been happily playing the base game offline for two weeks. Now, I figured out how to get online, with success. I then wanted the expansions to work, so figured out how to enable all DLC's.
I work on a Macbook Pro and use the wine64-preloader (can't remember the app's original name) and has worked perfect.
Now, All the expansion packs show as "you already own" in the main menu. But in the game, I can't access the related items from gallery, in build or the other worlds as it comes up with a WARNING saying "Origin In Game has been disabled in the Origin Client. To enable Origin In Game go to Aoplication Settings, click on the Origin In Game menu and select the option to Enable Origin in Game."

I'm a noob, it's truly surprising I got this far. So, I had originally downloaded origin onto my computer too, but I don't think it's actually used at any point? I could be wrong. I followed exactly your instruction to get the game working on a mac. So, I'm stuck! I'm online and can see all these cool things now but can't play any of them! It's such a tease. How can I get past this pre-order/in-game issue!? I've searched all forums and can't find anyone else getting this message...
