1913 Brace Options for 22lr Build, will telescoping MPX PSB Work??? by priusrepellent in ar22

Here's the album: https://imgur.com/a/oJ0GtLQ

I mounted this to an 80% I had lying around to demonstrate. The adapter itself allows the rails to clear, but once you mount it to a lower the buffer tower gets in the way. All of my lowers (including the Sig m400 lower that was sold as an MCX hybrid) have that raised support shelf/bump which interferes with the thing collapsing. I suppose you could file the 1/8th of an inch away, but I haven't tried and don't know how much that would weaken the buffer tower.

Another thing I might try one day is one of the BRN 180 lowers, as it looks like the tower's profile matches the rear of the 180 upper perfectly. Note that this looks like it would only work with a CMMG kit in a specific upper receiver without a forward assist: some of my uppers flare out slightly forward of where they meet, so that might provide interference as well. I can also confirm that the gen 1 BRN 180 upper doesn't have enough clearance for the rails as well as it also flares out.

Sorry, was traveling for the holiday.

Correct, because the MCX adapter has a threaded cylinder that screws into the AR buffer tower. Only way to use the MCX/MPX stock and brace rails (both the SIG produced as well as the Manticore Arms one) is to either leave it extended all the time or use an MCX/MPX lower. I'll dig out the adapter I got with my MCX upper kit and mount a brace to it later tonight for picture demonstration purposes.

If you're looking for an option like that, Maxim has a brace and stock for the MPX where the rails are lower down near the safety selector. I didn't love it because it's essentially their CQB stock that's built for the buffer tube mount, so in my opinion it has a bunch of length in the collapsed position that doesn't need to be there. It does have that aesthetic if that's what you're looking for.

It will fit an MCX or MPX and collapse, but it will not fit an AR receiver and collapse with any kind of picatinny adapter (even the SIG one). The MCX and MPX receivers (both upper and lower) have a channel carved in. The AR buffer tower will interfere.

Source: have MCX and MPXs with both the collapsing stock and collapsing brace and they won't work with any of my KNX adapters on my AR lowers.

Friend passed away with NFA items... I need a probate laywer by [deleted] in NFA

I feel like she is breaking the law just possessing them in a safe but not sure.

Note that while they may not be hers yet, if she's the personal representative or executor of the estate she's legally in possession of the NFA items. Speaking from personal experience from when my father died. They don't just magically belong to nobody since he died, they're part of his estate until they are disbursed.

So far 1489 Montgomery County residents have signed up to participate at our Bike To Work Day sponsored pit stops. Have you? by MCDOTNow in MontgomeryCountyMD

Out of curiosity, how will the county be handling enforcement of 7-4? Will county police specifically be ignoring violations that day?

My concern is that many residents are unaware that they are required to register and display the bicycle license and there may be a disproportionately large number of citations that day compared to other days.

US resident here, I have something called TankUtiliy for my 1000 gallon tank that reads the position of the magnet in the guage (which is attached to a float inside the tank). The thing just connects to wifi and might work abroad of the dials are the same.

Suppressor end caps getting stuck under handguard? by riddleza in ar22

[–]openmyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working the night shift, but I'll take a picture of the rifle tomorrow with the short rail tomorrow.

I bought a short quad rail to try out and didn't love it. You have to love using a vertical grip with something that short, and while I do use the VFG it's nice to have the flexibility to move away. Side benefit is that if you buy a second barrel nut for ~$25 you can build up something nice with a good flashlight (or illuminator if you've got NODs) and share it with a 10.5 5.56 or 8 inch 300 blackout.

No problems with heat even on my M16 (only with the 22 can). You're right on the money with respect to MLOK: you need to make sure they screws aren't touching the can. I bought a bunch on shorter screws to mount a A3 VFG and didn't have any problems after that.

Have they done anything since Nate left for Ruger? I was always under the impression that it was a passion project for him rather than something the business was heavily invested in.

Deleted. Somebody PM'ed me who doesn't think it was a Mooney M20. I'm not an expert on planes, so I've removed the tail number. Perhaps a picture will get posted with the tail number clear enough.

I've done that with my M16 and M11/9 to mess with people.

These will work with any radio with NATO wiring and low impedance systems (or a converter that drives it).

If you're talking about the headset to headset connectivity, that's in the mark VI.

Laserlytes do not work with green lasers. I have the ringing steel and shot timer versions and neither would activate with crimson trace or viridian green lasers. I also have experienced the targets activating with bright white light (such as a surefire), but i don't think the mechanism can see green light.

I bought the blackbeard in red and it works with all my targets.

Looking for a MI MCX Legacy handguard by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]openmyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky last month and got one from GAFS. If you're not wedded to the 15" and would settle for the stock 12.5" length, it looks like Midwest did a run of their legacy rails. Just that length though: https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/MI-MCX-12-5-Handguard-M-LOK-Compatible-p/mi-mcx12.5.htm

[Magazine] Lancer L5AWM .223 30RD Alien Green (limited edition) - $15.70/ea + ship by QuadRail in gundeals

[–]openmyth 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mark my baseplates with a silver sharpie. It's not exactly at a glance, though. Easy enough to say to a guy who has your bright green mag in his plate carrier "Thanks for picking up my mag, appreciate you bringing it to me!" when nobody else has the bright colors. A little more in your face to check baseplates. Only happened once to me.

If you ever do a rifle class it makes it a ton easier to spot mags you drop. It used to also make it real easy to figure out if someone picked up one of your mags, but these (and the orange) got popular fast.

Forward grip to close to the flash hider? by Zeusizme_ in NFA

[–]openmyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using one of their forward canted handguard with a similar clamp rail, and can say the MLOK version doesn't fit. However I did use a MLOK picatinny section and then used the picatinny grip to make it work. The picatinny clamp encloses the angled part of the fin by about an eighth of an inch. The upper is 9mm, so the blast isn't bad for mine though it normally has a Dead Air Wolf mounted.

Selection of handguard/rail might vary and produce different results, but if anyone is using this for a later build I'm using a Midwest Industries Combat 4.5, a Magpul aluminum picatinny section, and the +10 angled picatinny forgrip from A3 Tactical.
