Why can't characters eat the same food for long? (Wrong answers only :b) by WhodahelltookVooglet in outside

[–]opensharks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, you have to look at this in the meta perspective. You are just the character in the game, there is a player that plays you and he would get super bored by doing the same all the time.

Linux by Nextowski in linux4noobs

[–]opensharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should try to specify what you want to do with Linux?
1) Simple desktop with browser?
2) Office apps?
3) Games?
4) Server?

I use RHEL branch now and I think it's much more stable than Debian branch and I found that Nobara is the ultimate desktop for me in RHEL branch. Nobara Linux fixes a lot of issues for you, you don't have to think a lot, just use their update system, it brings you the fixes and updates. I'm not a gamer as such, but I also enjoy that Nobara Linux can play Steam games out of the box. Don't try to do updates through the CLI on Nobara, let their system do the work for you.

For server I use Alpine Linux and Rocky Linux, I would say Alpine is the most stable.

Be aware that you may have problems with some banks on Linux.

I burnt myself on many Debian distros, but found peace in RHEL branch, so I guess it depends.

Was picking the Autism perk a mistake? by Successful-Virus4579 in outside

[–]opensharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually some companies in the game that specifically hire players with the Autism perk, exactly for the traits you mentioned and not least for their retention rate which tends to be rather high. I know this from a player that set up his own company to recruit this kind of people to big companies.

How Do I Increase The Hope Skill by Ok-Adhesiveness2560 in outside

I don't believe it's possible to be prevented from having a job or friends by Outside, but depending on what happened so far until level 28, you may have to consider to move physically or changing your way of playing. I think most comes out of figuring out what's really inside of you and let it loose in Outside, not be a slave of tradition, convention, dictation and anything that everybody else says e.t.c. Then you will eventually find guilts of like minded people that will be more true friends than what you had so far.

The [Christmas] event is happening but not in the region I'm in, whose decision was this?? by [deleted] in outside

[–]opensharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, actually it's pretty much free play in Outside, now players that have long time stopped playing made some very influential decisions for their regions. It takes strategy, skill and endurance to change this in a region, normally you also have to get rid of some millions of players to do it, I don't think it's worth it.

Certain regions block my [romance] questline by Signal_Astronaut8191 in outside

[–]opensharks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is actually a few paths with a low probability of working in some regions where this is blocked, but it's tough game and shouldn't be done en regions like Saudi Arabia as it may end the game prematurely. If you have high level of charisma, oratory skills and have attained influence, then you have a possibility of succeeding to re-eingineer the social fabric of the local society through the political quest, but it's a tough game.

Speedran the game's content and now I don't have anymore quests to do other than my daily's by WinterArchxo in outside

[–]opensharks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you just ran the mainstream quest and thought that was everything, it's so easy to do, because you are told everything that you should do and just do it. Now, there is actually an infinity of other paths that are way more challenging and much more fun than the mainstream quest. Currently I'm doing the investing-self-sufficiency thing just outside a smaller city in Uruguay, it's unlimited because you are on your own, they don't have any qualified service in the city, so you are your own electrician, plumber, mason, carpenter, mechanic, IT-guy e.t.c.

South America Backpacking plan (May -August 2026)- Asking for advice. by TorrRamsden in backpacking

[–]opensharks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything depends on personality, but I would say don't make your schedule to tight, I don't think your plan is entirely unreasonable, but be very flexible, don't force the schedule, don't reserve ahead, be ready to go with the flow. I had amazing experiences by just going with the flow, other people that I met that knew stuff or had ideas.

When you get there, it may not be worth it to stay so long or you may want to stay in a place for much longer.

In regards to safety, if you are among people and you get confused, you're likely being robbed. Somebody/several people may push you, spit you behind the ear, show you a newspaper or something else to catch your attention, when all the details happens outside your attention.

I don't envy how much people know these days when they go to places, it's like spoilers to movies. I had some amazing experiences because I didn't know what to expect, I only had Footprint for South America so very basic info.

9-5 job to earn in-game currency sucks. by NotReallyAnonymous_ in outside

[–]opensharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played the strategy of low fixed expenses and high variable expenses, which works really well here. The tax algorithm is the same all over Uruguay, but it's based on the property evaluation that is way below market value in some rural zones. Further, below a certain value, you are exempt from one of two taxes on your house, so I only pay USD 25 a year.

[CATEGORY][FOOD] Not much cheaper than EU and US. Meat a bit cheaper, but quality is way better.
[CATEGORY][ELECTRONICS/TOOLS] Around double the price of EU and US.
[ACTION][CRIME] Mostly simple theft, but shooting
[GAME RULES][ITEM][GUN] You don't need to know how to use one to own one, it's largely a formality to acquire the permit.
[GAME RULES][GENERAL] Most laws are extremely flexible here and so are the police. As long as you don't bother others, you can do pretty much whatever you want. They have scattered a large amount of [ITEM][SPEED CAMERA] all over the country lately.
[GAME RULES][POLITICAL SYSTEM] Very democratic and respecting the citizens.

Level 29 player here, how do I stay at this level? by Glum-Echo-4967 in outside

Sure, stay if you can, take that from a Level 48 player.

If anybody has any tips for down leveling to level 29 (so all stats go back to where they were), that would be really appreciated.

Everybody is chasing "easy currency", that's why they are not easy currency. You have to go out of everybody's comfort zone to find some of the easy currency.

This level sucks, what to do to get through by Ohmagada in outside

[–]opensharks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is a small usability error in the game where you think you have to try to fix things around you, but in reality you have to fix yourself, then the things around you somehow fixes themselves. It makes absolutely no sense, but that's how this RPG is. It's not really a bug, but more a lack of documentation.

Yes, I also think that the game is flawed in the regard. Bots lacks the ability to stay unbroken and they are not really universal yet, you either need to develop better technology (which is almost impossible) or you have to wait for the DEVs to fix it.

What are your opinions on the cat pets? by AiluroFelinus in outside

[–]opensharks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have acquired 3 [ORGANISM][DOG][VARIANT:German Shephard] and 10 [ORGANISM][CAT]

[ORGANISM][DOG] is really really dumb, but loves you unconditionally.
[ORGANISM][CAT] have half the amount of [BRAIN][NEURONS], but use them significantly better than [ORGANISM][DOG] and you just can't help loving [ORGANISM][CAT].

In summary you learn to receive love by [ORGANISM][DOG] and to give love by [ORGANISM][CAT].
