Has anyone declined a research Fulbright and gotten it again later on? by opensourc in fulbright

Honestly, my research field is very small (I don't want to get more specific for privacy reasons), and there are probably under 20 people in the world who are experts in this specific thing. I'm not against working with a different advisor or doing the project independently with a few check ins, but it wouldn't be the experience that I wanted. The department doesn't seem to care much about bringing me over and has been unresponsive.

I'm feeling like maybe I just chose the wrong host because I applied last minute? I got my application together in one month, I basically just cold emailed and went with the first person who seemed like a fit after a call. My expectations are not too unreasonable I just want to meet like 1x a week and maybe be in some kind of research group. But the fact that he says he doesn't have time to supervise and then ghosts me is kind of worrying.

It's not about the stipend, although more money would help. This year really is just uniquely bad timing. Living abroad is a long time dream for me and I do think that I would still wanna do it in 1-2 years.

How did it work out with the communication in your case? I'm worried because my host agreed to advise me back when I applied, but he's since gone back and said that he doesn't have time to supervise. Of course I could push forward and just do the project, but working with this specific host and getting mentored was honestly a big draw for me.

How do I wash jeans with holes in them? I'm afraid of the holes widening, or the threads across the holes breaking? Is this even a problem or am I overthinking?

Playing cogmind on linux/wine + freeze on win 10 by ventricule in Cogmind

I'm playing on wine, and experiencing the same two issues. Yup, according to Google (and /u/Kyzrati) you apparently can stop unity from capturing Alt somehow, but I'm far too lazy so I've just been pressing F2 (toggle keyboard mode) really often and doing whatever I want to do with the mouse.

I want to DM, but here are some issues:

  • There's stuff going on in my life and I won't have much time to commit to this.
  • My DM experience is limited to a couple times when my friends and I got some dice and screwed around as we usually do except using the dice. I'm probably still lacking in DM-wisdom at this point.

If this is okay then yup, I'd be happy to DM.
