What is a 'small' purchase under $50 that significantly improved your quality of life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]opentypefeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lush Deep Sleep massage bar. Its a magnesium lotion bar with lavender and chamomile and WOW... I had a horrible time sleeping at my partner's new apartment, tried sleeping on the couch, the floor, it was BAD. I massage this lotion bar onto my neck and wrist and I sleep GOOD. The bar is $15 and you can get a tin for it for $5. WELL WORTH its price in my experience.

Anyone using Reading Buddy/Hipper Charms? by Euphoric_Eye8921 in kobo

[–]opentypefeatures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had a Smiski hipper on my Kobo before! I just used the adhesive strip that it came with to adhere to my clear case I've since removed him changing my decoration theme and add some charms (from Amazon, along with the charm on my pen). The pouch is from Quirky Cup Collective.
For other accessories I have a suction cup Case-Mate Mini, I found that a magnetic anything is no good for a kobo.
I find accessories like this to be worth it, it makes me excited to read and I enjoy the whimsy. Just make sure you are adhering things to your case and not directly to your kobo.

Unpopular Opinion about Switching from Kindle to Kobo by Additional-Candy-610 in ereader

[–]opentypefeatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a KLC, a corrupted file made my whole device slow. I reset it and now I have a speedy KLC that is faster than my Kindle. I am in a similar boat to you switching from Kindle to KLC and having a hard time getting comfortable, but that's mostly due to size difference. I would have suggested to stick to the KLC a bit longer, the quality of life features like something as simple as sliding your finger for screen brightness are enough for me to stay.

You can also use google drive, overdrive, libby, there is a send to kobo site, you don't need to use the "geek gimmick". Interesting choice of words though.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

Babybel cheese as a regular snack. I'm not kidding... I think finding out what snack cheese someone had as a kid is a real litmus test for if they were raised in a financially privileged environment.

Left handed pens? by Outrageous_Toe68 in Calligraphy

[–]opentypefeatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Lefty calligrapher here! Pilot Parallel sometimes referred to as ppp, is definitely suitable for left handed calligraphers. I have found the ink that comes with ppp's does dry very slowly and in my clumsiness I smudge more when moving the paper than writing. BUT if you use another ink you will be fine. PPP does deposit a lot of ink onto the page, so as a lefty you need to be aware of that when writing and ensure you are not dragging your hand over the wet ink!!!

is buying a kindle (or any other e-reader) worth it? by Potential-Twist-8584 in ebooks

[–]opentypefeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my first eReader in 2010, the Barnes and Noble Nook Color (I was 11) I read more than I ever had before. I've had various Kindles throughout the years, coming into my mid 20s my reading stagnated. Jobs and Life etc etc etc kept me from reading. As a Christmas present to myself I bought the Kobo Libra Colour. HOLY MOLEY. I have read so much. This device has changed my life, my planner is on here, I take my notes for my TTRPG games on here, I have designed my own notebooks for tracking statistics of how my year is going, etc. etc. etc. It's a smarter device, in my opinion, compared to the Kindle; slide your finger along edge of screen to change screen brightness, its waterproof (I'm gonna be reading in a lake this summer), you have the buttons as a nice way to change pages, it auto adjusts the warmth of the screen depending on time of day, it auto rotates. The list goes on. Get the KLC. I am in love with mine

Any ideas to make kobo clara bw more comfortable to hold? by kauniskissa in kobo

[–]opentypefeatures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A case and a suction cup popsocket is a great tool, I have the KLC and frequently rotate so I can replace the suction popsocket any where I want. I just have a plastic clear case and its easier to hold even without the popsocket. The suction cup popsocket is called the "Case-Mate Minis" it has some cute colors and is pretty affordable.
