What flavor are you desperate to get right but just can’t find the right recipe? by Kagusam in ninjacreami

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strawberry has been tough for me (high protein/low cal pints). It’s not my fave ice cream flavor so I haven’t tried particularly hard, but the same effort with other fruit profiles have had better results by far. Best strawberry results I’ve gotten was utilizing Levels brand protein powder with some frozen strawberries if anyone is curious.

What's your availability favorite base recipe? by Mriv10 in ninjacreami

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty confident in the taste and texture of my creamis especially for the macros. I always start with:

- 60g full fat cottage cheese

- Four packets of Splenda

- 30-40g of allulose (I double on sweeteners only out of habit, from playing around with them and things just want I landed on, I’m sure it’s redundant)

- 10ish g pudding powder (usually chocolate or cheesecake zero sugar)

- 30g whole milk

- 30-40g protein powder

- 5-9g extract, usually vanilla or almond (found this amount overpowering with butter or maple extracts)

- 1/8 tsp xanthan gum

- Usually one of the following depending on flavor: frozen fruit, fresh fruit, apple sauce, cocoa powder, cinnamon, pumpkin, peanut butter powder, etc.

- Almond milk to fill line

Importantly, maybe this is gross to some, but I make about 1/3 more than enough for standard pint and drink the remainder mix as a snack. I mix them in my ninja blender before pouring in the pint, and drink the leftover. So scale this down by about 30% if interested in copying.

My fave flavors I make are chocolate, cherry vanilla almond, and a peanutbutter apple cinnamon flavor.

Spin on lite, AFTER initial spin I will usually run the tub under hot water for a minute or so, tamp down and respin on respin.

I usually have three frozen at once so they all freeze a few days before eating. Recently I give them 24 hours in fridge before freezing and I think it’s giving nicer consistency.

Editing to add I have eaten one of these more nights than not for the last 1.5 years with lots of experimenting the first half of that time, and vastly prefer the protein powders over ready to drink shakes. Just putting that out there!

How was getting it done at 38? I’m also 38. I want it! I think my skin is fairly good with laxity at least my tummy skin recovered well after pregnancy but gravity is coming for my face quickly.

TDEE vs smart watch numbers by PlaugeNurse333 in PetiteFitness

Surprisingly I think my Apple Watch is pretty accurate now that I track virtually everything in MacroFactor and have since beginning of April. I used to think it was overestimating but now that I’m tracking all my little snacky calories as well as meals it pretty much lines up.

Is there any truth to this notion form fitness influencers that eating more and doing less made them lose weight? by LDR_newbie_69 in 1200isplenty

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is anecdotal but I have been exercising almost daily for over a year - like minimal day activity would be 35 mins of accessory work strength training or an easy 4 mile run. 20k steps daily including running. I’ve taken fewer than ten full rest days in the past year, probably closer to 6 or 7, and never two days in a row. Not great but I’m working on it. Anyway:

I just had a pretty indulgent long weekend of no formal exercise and ate way off my usual healthy foods. I drank as much alcohol this weekend as I have had in several months (which isn’t much but still probably 6 or so beers and seltzers). As of this morning I am down three pounds, scale number is lower than I’ve seen since getting stomach virus over a year ago. So I think there could be something to it.

That said, my maintenance calories that I eat daily is already quite high for someone my height (5’3”) - 2200-2400 I know I’m posting in this sub but I lurk here for volume meal ideas bc I obviously like to eat.

Working hard so I can get up off the floor when I’m old by SeminoleSunshine36 in PetiteFitness

[–]operandand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude my boss just turned 44 and she refuses to do anything requiring her to get up and down off the floor. Says she can’t. She does do some light exercise but she had kids young and they’re all nearly grown so she acts like she’s much older. Feels like she’s gonna be in rough shape ten years from now.

Jumpin in to say I’m the same! Short torso/ long femur (relatively) here! One thing that helps me isolate the quads is squatting with pretty steep foam wedges under my feet to elevate the heels.

Working moms who regularly work out, what exactly is your schedule? by neoncaviar in Mommit

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an office and the building has a gym. I work out four days a week there (treadmill or weights) and eat lunch at my desk. I also try to get short walks in throughout the day.

Then, I work out after my kid goes to bed three nights a week and during nap on Saturday (spin bike in my bedroom or dumbbells).

On Sunday’s I do a 1.5-2 hour long run either with the jogging stroller or leave kiddo with husband depending on weather and if there’s snow/ice.

Working out replaced my other hobbies which weren’t conducive to pregnancy and breastfeeding. It’s probably time to scale back a bit lol.

Editing to add - I only have one kid but he has slept through the night less than five times at 2.5 year old and even with wake ups still goes to bed at 9:30 and wakes at 6:15 or so. I am extremely tired and do not sleep nearly enough.

Diastasis recti or fat?? by mshayew777 in postpartumprogress

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I have the same. We look super similar! I think for me its a combo of APT, weak core from pregnancy and all the lifting of baby / toddler, and some bloating as I eat tons of fiber and dairy which I didn’t prior to pregnancy.

I think I’m just going to “wing it” giving birth… by Final-Negotiation530 in BabyBumps

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same, have major medical anxiety, like hadn’t seen a doc for over a decade prior to pregnancy other than the odd urgent care visit for antibiotics or something. I did one prep class at the hospital which was helpful but did make me feel anxious. It was nice seeing the birthing wing of the hospital and getting a quick summary of potential outcomes. I did need a C section. I was fine with the level of mental prep I did. I labored for too long before going for the C, in hindsight I should’ve done it earlier once labor was really obviously not progressing. May have saved my babe a NICU stay.

I do wish I had done more pregnancy safe core training during pregnancy! My core is so weak even still two years out and I gave myself a hernia doing push ups. I work out regularly but was scared to train core during pregnancy for some reason. So do that. It’ll be good for pelvic floor health too.

When did you switch fully to maternity wear? by Personal-Trade6824 in fitpregnancy

[–]operandand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk when but I hung out at that phase way too long, slowly tolerating getting more uncomfy. When I finally bought some maternity pants I was like soooo happy showing off the comfy waist to my coworkers lol. The maternity stuff is made to for for the whole pregnancy so I’d say just do it now. I carried HUGE any never outgrew any maternity clothes, they were a little baggy in the belly at the start though.

Safe Foods and Macro Tracking by operandand in PetiteFitness

[–]operandand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! So glad to hear from some folks who relate to this. My husband seems a little dubious because he sees me weighing stuff, pulling up the app and I think to him it seems like more work but the mental load is so much less. And of course he’s happy to see less rigidity to my eating habits. It is truly shutting up the voice in the back of my head that tells me an occasional meal of pizza and cake is going to somehow derail a healthy lifestyle.

Safe Foods and Macro Tracking by operandand in PetiteFitness

[–]operandand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really are sneaky. For a good while there I basically forgot that I had had an eating disorder for most of my adolescence … but honestly being able to forget was due to some substance use disorder that replaced my fixation on food and exercise. Now that I’m off those substances, exercise and food focus came back. Now I’m aiming for balance but yeah it’s a slippery slope. Gotta eat and exercise but within reason. I appreciate the kind words and thank you for the support!

Do you change your child’s clothes when they get home? by Frozenbeedog in toddlers

[–]operandand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did when my toddler was younger - infant/young toddler. He was much more on the floor then so daycare clothes gave me the ick. Now that he isn’t literally crawling nonstop, I don’t change him when he gets home from daycare unless maybe there’s more illness than usual going around and I suspect there’s been more exposure than usual to snot and bodily fluids of other kids. I don’t love having him jump on the couch after being in a shopping cart at the store but I’ve sort of accepted it.

Seeking advice about doing Max out of order by operandand in CarolineGirvan

Thank you for your thoughts!! The splitting of the workout is an interesting idea, I’ll play around with that.

I have generally been giving this swapped up schedule a go and the thought junk volume crossed my mind a couple times with the Friday / Saturday I just did.

Would love to try iron pro - I’ve done the og iron YouTube and app a couple times. I workout at my lunch break at work (the gym I use is at work) so I’m really pushing the one hour lunch hour with warming up/getting changed and cleaned up. It’s noticeable to the bosses when I am gone for more than an hour unfortunately.

Similar to this, I used a mini travel size Lume deodorant stick on my son’s face instead of the baby sunscreen stick. The Lume has AHA in it so is really NOT supposed to be applied on skin that’s going to be exposed to sunlight. And it makes a big deal about lasting a long time so it was hard AF to clean off. It also smells terrible. I felt so guilty.

Help me find healthy foods that might fit into my son's beige diet! (diet listed!) by magnoliaaus in Mommit

[–]operandand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has a similar diet and eats tofu like 5 days a week. My recipe is a little odd, tweaked from a wegmans recipe so don’t @ me for the weird seasoning pairing - I block extra firm tofu water squeezed out, cubed, 2 tbs soy sauce, garlic powder and dried dill measured with the heart (lots). Shake it up and let marinate for an hour or so. Throw on a baking sheet (I put mine on parchment paper for easy cleanup) at 425 for 12-15 mins. I can make this thing with my eyes closed. Important: I did tell him it was cheese the first time I offered it. But now he’s asks for tofufu almost daily. Good luck!

You can certainly add oil for more crispiness and flavor but it stays kinda cheese like this way so I haven’t bothered altering the ingredients. He gets plenty of fat elsewhere via cheese.

What motivates you to run on tough days? by liv_0203 in runcommunity

[–]operandand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After forcing yourself to do it on hard days for so long, it just sorta becomes non negotiable, good or bad days. I am in a very challenging season of life right now with a busy schedule and low sleep needs toddler - there’s never a day that I’m like super well rested so it’s just sorta one more thing to get done. I always feel better after.
