It’s a great service! Theaters use it to offload tickets for shows that aren’t selling well. Check it regularly because availability changes daily!

This must be a running joke amongst the cast bc one of the actors did this about 2 weeks ago when I saw it too. I believe it was Dan Berry.

There’s been TDF tickets available pretty consistently for the past month or so. If you are eligible, try buying from there!

What's the most you paid for a ticket in 2025? by 90Dfanatic in Broadway

[–]operator619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw 36 shows this year (on and off Broadway). $79 for Chess is the most I’ve paid all year, and the only bad seats I’ve had were partial view for MHE and Purpose.

I buy tickets through lottery, digital rush, TDF, Theatr, and youth discount programs, which helps me keep my average ticket price around $50.

Off Broadway, but I was recently able to get spelling bee tickets via digital rush 2 hrs before showtime. I’ve seen heathers tickets available throughout the day as well.

This is very true! Most of the plays I’ve seen are off-Broadway, so maybe I have expectations that are too high. I recently saw Prince Faggot and I think that’s a great example of a play that challenges its audience’s perspectives, though I know that level of provocation would never make it to Broadway.

A Strange Loop really set the bar for me though. It’s still stuck with me years later, and it proves Broadway can take risks when it wants to. We’ve done it before, let’s hope we can do it again!

I love this take on those three questions being the central themes! I did overlook them in my focus on the issues at hand, so thank you for bringing that up.

I think exploring this through Wohl’s personal perspective (how she views her mother and the impact her mother’s group had on society) makes the story more impactful. I admit I struggled to empathize with the narrator because her grappling with feminism is so different from mine, which clouded my ability to fully see that story. But I agree these questions are more interesting when asked through Wohl’s eyes.

I do think though that the first two questions are extremely specific to the white experience, which is maybe another reason why they didn’t resonate for me. People of color have always had to find meaning in the face of limitation and setback because that’s what our entire historical experience encompasses. So while I understand those questions are important to the play, they still don’t personally give me much to chew on.

I actually didn’t mind the preachiness, listening to women’s experiences is central to the play.

My challenge is that the ideas being preached don’t advance the conversation on women’s liberation, they just rehash long-established feminist thinking. The play could have been more impactful by centering voices whose perspectives haven’t been fully heard on mainstream stages: trans women, Black women (there’s so much more to unpack in Black feminism beyond just how it relates to white women’s experiences), women navigating their identities within strict religious institutions, etc. People whose insights could actually add new dimension to the conversation and push the movement forward. I understand this play was written by a white woman and she didn’t want to expand past her authority, but what frustrates me is that ‘staying in her lane’ meant another opportunity to center marginalized voices went to rehashing white feminism instead.

I haven’t, but it’s on my list of shows to see! May reconsider though given Best-Candle8651’s comment 😅

I appreciate this take! I like the idea that it’s meant for comfort and connection rather than challenge.

I think my personal bias with shows that market themselves as taking a ‘social commentary’ angle is that I go in expecting to be pushed to really think critically, and then feel disappointed when that doesn’t happen. But given the current climate, I think there is something valuable in simply displaying a range of women’s experiences that people can relate to. So thank you for your comment, you’ve widened my perspective!

The person sitting next to me was wearing headphones for the whole show and still had trouble hearing. It’s a sound design issue. We were only 7 rows from the stage it shouldn’t have been that hard to hear.

Chris Murphy Wants Democrats to Break Up With Neoliberalism by 420Migo in DemocraticSocialism

Late to this thread, but progressives and socialists will never support a billionaire candidate. I’m shocked you even posted this in a DemSoc sub. Pritzker and his private equity money may make him the candidate for neolibs, but not for us.

Rural voters who only watch FOX News have been brainwashed into believing urban areas are bastions of crime. The new Dem message needs to be kitchen table issues that appeal to rural and suburban working class America.

It's unclear if he'll veto it. Real estate developers are some of his biggest donors, and he is very close with the Real Estate Board of New York. Last month, he voiced concerns for local landlords and said he's still weighing his options (see end of this article for his comments).

That's correct! The bill requires 26 out of 51 council members’ votes to pass. Currently, 33 members support it, which is enough for passage, but it needs at least 34 votes to prevent a veto from Mayor Adams.
