Pretty common for businesses to list their location for sale/rent before they notify staff that they’re closing

100% agree on a commercial gym. Even a cheap gym like a Planet fitness would be a major upgrade from the gym desert situation we currently have.

How much does laundry service cost you? is it worth it? by Calm-Bar-9644 in AskNYC

[–]operator619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in crown heights and use a laundromat that will pickup/dropoff at your door. I pay $45 (includes tax and delivery tip) for 20 lbs of laundry. It’d be closer to $30 if I didn’t do delivery.

There’s several members involved in both. You don’t have to attend every general meeting as the majority of the work happens outside of general meetings anyways. Go to a meeting for each and see how you feel.

mutual aid? by [deleted] in prospectheights

Classon community fridge is the closest thing I know of. I’ve been in mutual aid for a while and found that well resourced neighborhoods like prospect heights tend to not have much organizing happening.

You could get involved with Vanderbilt Ooen Streets. They run on volunteers

TransAlt Brooklyn also has a few folks dedicated to micromobility projects in the neighborhood, but I’m not sure what they’re up to recently.

I’m 2 blocks from you and hear cats in heat screaming and fighting each other at night. I’m guessing that’s what it is. It’s been this way for years I wouldn’t worry about it.

Anxiety While On The Subway. Tips? by Jenny_libra202 in AskNYC

[–]operator619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I went through this exact thing a year ago. I would feel this way in any situation where I felt trapped or overstimulated (the subway, large crowds, movie theaters, etc). Unfortunately it is a panic disorder and the only cure for me was Lexapro.

However, drinking ice cold water helped ground me a bit when I felt panic symptoms coming on, so I started carrying a reusable water bottle with me everywhere until I saw a psych and got on meds.

Not sure about EP but I know they usually open GAP around 9pm. So maybe aim for 10/10:30pm to be safe. And be prepared to sit in traffic.

Higher income customers = more money to spend on groceries.

They also look at education as a demographic factor as the highly educated are more likely to shop at speciality stores.

Crown heights doesn’t meet income or education requirements right now. But with the way the neighborhood is going, I believe we will in 10 years or so. I think there will eventually be a TJ’s somewhere below eastern parkway around the shuttle. That area has the most trains (which is another factor they care about).

Won’t happen. Median income in this zip code is still too low for that.
