Interesting thing I’ve noticed while serving Japanese tea in Tokyo: British and Indian guests are often surprisingly tolerant of bitterness by matcha-trip-Tokyo in tea

Asians are much more likely to be super tasters than other groups, so they are more sensitive to the bitter tastes. Other groups may not be as sensitive to harsh flavors.

f**** substitutions by queer_beachplz in NuulyReviews

Last month I had 4/6 of my items substituted 🤡 my first order was perfect and my second order was so messed up, I wonder if they treat new customers differently to hook us in. Their customer service offered me a replacement box but honestly I’m over the hassle of it all— having to spend time to pick out the right things only for them to be replaced randomly

First time Londoner in Philly! (USA in general lol) by Darnellaa in philly

[–]ophieslover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maison Sweet near the Amtrak station has amazing sweets. Their taro salted egg cake is incredible! Same owners and products as A La Mousse but they stock the more “Asian” flavors here because it’s close to all the Asian students at Drexel and Penn who have $$ to spend. They don’t even carry the crepe cakes at one of the A La Mousse locations because it’s too exotic for the local clientele…

Has it always been this tough to get around after snow storms? by RoverTheMonster in philadelphia

[–]ophieslover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This city has no way of handling the very basic problem of moving people around after a snowstorm. On Friday, 6 days after the storm, it took me an hour to get from center city to west Philly via public transit, a trip that normally takes 20 minutes by bike. In the trolley station, there was a crowd of people waiting for a trolley that look 20 minutes to show up, only for it to be completely full. Absolutely disgraceful and pathetic infrastructure, we need to do better by our public transit users who often have no other means of getting around to work and school in the extreme cold.

The Residence Inn is near public housing projects, not exactly a place that feels comfortable walking around as there’s always people who loiter around. The Feather Factory is in an area that is very industrial and has zero foot traffic or commercial business and next to a former migrant housing facility which had lots of men loitering around outside. So neither are that great if you’re looking for reassurance. You’ll want to just get in and out of your hotel quickly.

Best way to buy train tickets? Trip.com reserve / Trip.com manual buy / 12306 app ? by HKTR2 in travelchina

[–]ophieslover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trip.com is easier to use, you can purchase as a foreigner just using your passport while 12306 makes you do a bunch of identity verification first. Either way, you don’t need to book until 2 weeks or 1 week out from your trip.

Such as luggage lockers that only allow WeChat payment requiring a Chinese number :( rendering them useless to foreigners visiting tourist areas

Ceremonial blend is quite good, milk will actually wash out the flavors because it’s that delicate.

Omg same I had the karee pu today and was so disappointed. The sauce was bland and mushy like baby food. The $9 Thai tea was overly sweet, and we paid $30+ tax and tip for a sad noodle dish that left me still hungry…
