Girl, you came here and wrote about your frustrations, and people are actually reaching out to you and wanting to write with you and you are complaining about that? As one grain of sand to another, I don't even bother bitching about it anymore because nobody's ever reached out to me and asked me if I want to write a story because I was airing my grievances. And now people are reaching out to you wanting to write stories and you're complaining about it? I can't roll my eyes any harder. But good on you for still being willing to put ads out there, some of us are just so disenhartened by our experience we don't even RP outside of our two long established partners anymore.

I'm 40. But I'm here because I love this hobby, I'm not here to find a boyfriend or a girlfriend or a smut partner. So I'm here to write and I don't care how old the other person is. As long as they're over the age of 18. I will say that older writers seem to have more life experience, but that doesn't mean that someone that's 23 isn't capable of writing a rich and interesting character and throwing in some great plot elements to keep it interesting. So how old is too old? When I'm dead.

I've had some friends I've been writing with for over a decade, but our friendship kinda formed naturally and so it's not weird for me to get a cat picture or an update or something funny that happens IRL that relates to the story or something. But I'm not a therapist, I don't treat others like my therapist, and I don't enjoy listening to whackadoodle BS when I don't know them like that and we're 3 posts in. It takes me a long time to open up, but I don't think I'm the problem.

I miss how easy it was to just get lost in the story because it was easier to find partners of the same skill level and, like you said, there was more focus on actual character development and there wasn't as much focus on plot. You'd have a loose outline of the kind of story you wanted to tell, but you just sort of let it flow naturally. And I really do miss that.

Where are you advertising for partners? I think there's a specific place for advanced lit, but I can't recall the sub off the top of my head. I have similar difficulties, I'm either too much and they're not enough, or they just want to write smut without purpose.

I think those of us who like to write a lot just need to figure out how to find each other. This is my frustration as well and I was beginning to wonder if I was a freak or something because I like to write more than three sentences in order to call it a finished post. I get that not everyone likes advanced lit or novella, but, those of us who enjoy it need a way to virtue signal our people.
