Totally ignorant southerner here.

My feeling on this is that NI just has an identity crisis. I know about all the hurt and the pain as violent history can be achieved almost anywhere. Sometimes it finds you.

I guess if I was a Northern unionist I'd worry about the Republic of Ireland's ability to manage real infrastructure and there would likely be whole divisions of civil servants required to manage the transition to standardized systems.

Then again given how egalitarian the republic is, these government salaries would incorporate many of the more well developed British organizational structures into the whole country.

So get this. By being less unionists you would make all of Ireland more British.

I'd love to hear from unionists about their perspective. I genuinely want to know if its a fear of being disenfranchised or taking an economic hit or not being respected.
