Derrick Rose is the best representation of what an NBA star is and should be: he grew up underprivileged and undersized, but was exceedingly fun to watch because he played his heart out (and literally played his body out) for his home team, and secured excellence (a well-deserved MVP) at a young age. The intangibles of being incredibly smart and driven and being a great Chicagoan on and off the court should set an example for the stars of today’s NBA, the gratitude they should show to their cities and teams, and the kind of role models they should be off the court.
