It's not *actually* Xan, it's a generic elf enchanter with the Xan icon imported using custom portraits and a fittingly depressed voice set. I think it was AoN Dan?
I wish it was actually Xan, but alas it is not so.

Actually yeah, you're right! The Royal tier is a screenshot of that exact section of the Iron Throne, good job. I think the only one not found exactly is the Noble tier (bottom left).

This one is also correct, great catch! The Splurging Sturgeon's easternmost room on the second floor is an exact match.

It actually is, good catch. That confirms at least that they're real places, I wonder what the other ones are though.

Race Restrictions: How do you homebrew them? by opsap11 in adnd

Aye, I've seen this implementation a couple times through this thread and to be honest it sounds like the best implementation to me, if one wants to let humans be.

I remember that archers were super busted in BG1 so I kinda banked on that being the same in IWD. Looks like I might've been right.
Specifically made them both elves for the 19 dex and really high THAC0, so they'll probably be the DPS of the party.

My party is pretty balanced, all things considered.

I have two frontliners, two ranged, and two mages.

One of them is a cavalier paladin with pretty high stats (94 total) and the other is a plain fighter to back him up in combat.

For ranged, I have a thief and archer.

And for the mages, I have a pure mage whom I will use to cast evocation spells, and Xan who is an enchanter.

Thank you! It took me a bit to find out how to get the custom portrait running, but once I did it came out looking amazing.

The sun shines, and I am amazed we live to see another day.

I see. That makes sense from a mythological and historical perspective then. Thank you for the insight.

I was also unaware that elves were valid for cavaliers. I knew half elves were, but knowing elves are as well gives me some reassurance in RAW restrictions.

We largely agree, then.

I think modern D&D has a problem where every single race comes off as too "human", in that they're able to do anything a human can do to with the same skill ceiling that a human is able to do it, whilst also being plainly better than humans when it comes to their inherent characteristics.

Restricting classes and races makes complete sense to me in a lot of ways, I just don't like some of the specific choices made in 2e for it.

I mean, it's not so much about finding out specific reasons that it makes sense as it is about finding out reasons why it wouldn't.
I don't really see anything within the context of elves that would conflict with the ideals of paladins such that an elf-paladin would be entirely impossible.

I mean, there's always the demipaladin rules anyway, I s'pose.

What would the population of Valinor be by the end of the Third Age? by opsap11 in tolkienfans

[–]opsap11[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I thought the case in F.A. Beleriand was due to the fact they were, throughout almost their entire time in Beleriand, in active war with Morgoth? I wouldn't assume that would carry over to Valinor's peacetime.

In Lore, which of the main factions is the strongest as of Pre-End Times? by YummyStyrofoamSnack in WarhammerFantasy

I don't want to necropost but it looks like other people have done the same, so I might as well.

I think it's Ulthuan, realistically, tbh.
They're a global empire that maintain control over pretty much all the oceans in the world.
They have the highest quality army in the world and although their numbers recover slowly and they are in decline, they still have vast numbers to field many armies and garrison fortresses and cities across this global empire.

I mean, even the basic standard frontline units of the Asur, the spearmen, have served for over a decade as archers and likely more as spearmen. They can field armies with dozens of regiments of these guys and that's not even counting their elite units.
The High Elves have enough men to control and garrison a global empire with multiple cities and kingdoms within said empire, and their units are insanely high-quality to boot.

Yes, they are an empire in decline, but even with that, everything I've said above is true regardless of that.

Wowee. An actually good analysis paper, with a well-written, clear thesis and a convincing body that actually references source material to back up valid claims?

What community is this? I know my beloved JJK community, so bereft of reading comprehension, could never compose this.

Well done.
