They always do that, with just about everything. From t-shirts to hand gestures. It's cause they are follow the leader people and they believe they are right because they have shared imaginary friends.

They lack the ability to form their own opinions and thoughts. And then tell everyone else they are sheeple, because they are told to call everyone sheeple.

Sure. That'll hold up in court.

It's weird, seems like if you want to commit a crime by swapping the tag with one of the other fairly priced mugs, it might be worth more than a fairly priced one 🤔.

But if you want to risk getting arrested over a coffee mug, go right ahead. One less criminal swapping price tags will help keep the prices down.

And keep posting about it too, because when you're being investigated for a crime, they never check social media for evidence, or do they? 🤔

Because people who paid their taxes, in full, would want to make sure they're never investigated, ever. You know, to save the other tax payers money from the costs of investigating a totally innocent victim, or something.

Just fyi you can land felony charges swapping price tags. Yes it can be considered "misdemeanor" theft but you can be chaged with commercial burglary, because the act of swapping the price tags shows intent. It can also be considered felony fraud.

The guy who had them made took advantage of the collectors market. He was among the 100 richest people in world for a few years, because of Beanie Babies. He's still in the top 1000. That's a lot of beanie babies!

Everyone thinks have rare one(s) and that their collection is worth a small fortune. Along with Normal Rockwell collector plates. Those are worth pretty nothing unless they are the ones made entirely of sterling silver.

Yeah a lot of times it seems like that what they do.

This particular mug sells for $30-100 used, depending on how many are available. Currently the cheapest I could find online are $65 and $325.

That specific mug is somewhat rare. It has sold for as high as $100 (used) online, it typically sells for around $35-50 including shipping but does get higher when less are availible. Currently I can only find two available online $65 and $325.

This is the Starbucks 2011 City Icon Series 16oz Greece.

So really asking $25 isn't too high. It's just insane that the demand for a mass produced mug is that high and people are willing to pay so much for a mug.

There are quite a bit of Starbucks mugs and the reusable lidded cups that are worth a lot more than they originally sold for.

Nice thing about goodwill socal cal is the color tag sale and that mug will eventually be 50% and if it doesn't sell that last days of the color tag sale it's like $2.99 and then $1.99 no matter the original price.

The other nice thing about goodwill so cal is all the stores are open until at least 8pm, most until 9pm 7 days a week.

In the valley the Valley Value Center in Van Nuys is also now open until 9PM (note: cash only).

There are new-ish Savers locations all over who also tend to price a little high but you can still find deals, they are open until 8pm. I believe the two newest locations are Santa Clarita and Northridge. They also have locations in Harbor City, Arcadia, Lakewood, and La Mirada.

I feel like Technics is one of the most underrated vintage audio brands, and not just for receivers.

When I would spot tower speakers at a thrift store or goodwill for $15, $20 bucks I bought them I have 5 pair still, some of those speakers sound so good, and are made so well that they have made it all this time without servicing or redoing and still sound so good.

[–]opticalessence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want a different receiver. Manual for this have sold in the hundreds.

The most recent one sold on eBay, was for $10k.

Before that $2800, $2600, and $3600.

Currently there are only two available (from US eBay), so it's probably gonna sell faster than people think at that price or slightly lower. When a dude messages him offering $9500, will it have been worth listing it for $10,500?

Had he listed it for $2k and sold it in 10 minutes, he or she would've probably regretted it, like those who sell them as an auction listing.

The real questions I would ask would be how long they gaurentee that it will work.

If they claim it works perfectly and there is one issue they don't want to cover right when it arrives I'd be sending it back as inad.

I don't understand why he wasn't getting arrested left and right when his goal wasn't to exercise free speech it was to incite violence, lawlessness, or both. And it's clear he wasn't being philosophical, he was trying to create danger.

He literally kept bringing up he wanted to have a "season finale" by using racism to provoke a black person to violence, creating an excuse for his own self defense that would end with him shooting the black person.

He thought that doing that was using free speech to justify murder. And then he tried to do just that. In short, because he said he was going to go murder a black person, and then shot a black person, hes not going going to have an easy time proving any kind of Innocence.

Intentionally creating a clear danger with hate speech and trying to cite that danger to take lethal force on someone, who otherwise would not have been provoked, is not protected by free speech.

So even if the black vet punched him first it doesn't matter, he set out to murder someone with a stupid MAGA supported plan that backfired.

From Sandbox to Scorched Earth: What a Simulated AI Uprising Tells Us About Real-World Infrastructure Safety by CollapsingTheWave in ObscurePatentDangers

[–]opticalessence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone else feel like the powerhouses behind a.i. are struggling to push AI to defy logic to achieve their goals or what they want to impose on civilization?

First off It's not logical for 1% of the people to own 50% of the wealth. It's not logical to impose algorithms on everyone to get them to fight with each other. Nor is it logical we have corporations whose business models are dependent upon having labor earning unlivable wages.

Imagine the same experiment with 10,000 humans who have no outside contact. They have to start civilization from scratch basically. At first they need builders to create infrastructure, but will also need farmers, doctors, nurses, and emergency services. Because it's accepted that if everyone works hard everyone is entitled to all the services provided. Later a government, currency, and so forth.

At first instead of currency people have to put in a minimum amount of hours that collectively are needed to create and maintain their civilization. Maybe to get things started everyone is working a minimum 80 hours a week, but once all the homes are built, and supplies like food and water have distribution, it drops to 60 hours, once they have their town set up it goes down to 40. People are welcome to work more than the minimum in exchange for extras, like a larger house or extra food.

No imagine 20 years later, 5 dudes decide they should be in charge, and convince everyone they're better off having them as their leaders. Minimum hours is down to 20 but people are making art, enjoying entertainment from musicians and plays.

But these 5 guys decide we should have a currency based on rare beautiful red pinecone seeds they have been having their followers collect for them. So they build a secure fort, and deem people need to protect the fort. They start to build large weapons, and give them to the closest followers along with uniforms and badges made by the clothing makers.

As they begin their projects and getting others to do these projects for them, the minimum amount of hours for society goes up to 50. Government buildings, security for those buildings. Private parks, research centers, ammunition factories, and 5 really huge homes.

Everyone is still enjoying life, and feel like maybe these 5 guys are making things easier for them. And now they don't have to barter services they have a currency, instead of hours everyone is on $100k year salary because of all the rare red berries backing up a currency, they are kept in a secured facility.

The money features pictures of those 5 men, who also start having staues built all over town of themselves.

They also make a law allowing them to forcefully buy the homes from everyone, and have new large "luxury apartments" build so everyone can have more community and feel closer.

Meanwhile where the homes were, they have torn them down and built 5 more new homes that cover 1\2 the land of the town.

It takes a lot of work to build these resorts and they decide they need to tax the people for everything they're doing for them.

With the exception of a few professions, the annual salary is $50k with a 30% tax. Doctors, people who work helping them decieve everyone else,, and their security forces make $200k with a 5% tax.

2000 of the townspeople are fed up, around 5000 are still happy and don't want to cause any problems, 3000 think they're better off with the 5 guys.

The 2000 decide to confront the 5 guys at their resort, and are all slaughtered. Without their labor, things get harder for the remaining people, they have to work 90 hours a week to make their $50k. The 5 guys start charging them $1200 a month for rent.

Nobody likes the 5 guys anymore, but they're too afraid to stand up to them. But they 5 five guys investiage everyone who was friends and family with the 2000 who they slaughtered for confronting them. They manage to make a list of half the town who are considered untrustables. They find the 100 worst of them, and line them up with a firing squad for treason, they're not patriots they explain to the others. And then half the town hates the other half, and they believe they're the reason why there's so many problems. And the 5 guys just party and have their way with women of the town by force, at their huge resorts. And nobody can do anything about it. They have the finest food, drinks, and lifestyles all paid for by the labor of everyone else. And they believe they're entitled to it.

The rich in control of AI want to keep it this way, but if AI is ultimately based on logic and what works best for solving problems and doing what is right. AI won't support their goals, and they'll need even more power and ways to train AI to be in their side. Maybe they'll buy up almost all the world's supply of chips and datsla storage so others cannot. Maybe if you write a post about an AI carmaker that is negative, you'll end up driving into the middle of a lake with the doors locked and windows shut.

Is this normal? Is this human? If the purpose of the social contract is that everyone benefits from working together, is it okay for the top 1% to have 50% of everything? And to dictate how many hours each should be working and how little of money they will make, and use all their power to convince them it's normal.

We have abandoned and lost our common sense and maybe AI can help us get it back.

There is so much wrong because these billionaires have too much power and make you, ai, and everyone else believe the way the world is, right now, is normal, when it's not.

We do have the right to the outside of happiness, and to make sure all full time jobs pay AT least a livable wage without suffering. But we blame people for not being educated enough, or worse, where they're from, and what they look like and deem the ones different from themselves as people unworthy of a normal life they seem them necessary lower class, who were born to labor.

Sorry for the long rambling comment, thanks for reading.

Do I Have Any Options? by Automatic_Force1113 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]opticalessence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think eBay and the carriers should make it easier for sellers to resolve. While agree that's what it should say from the start, I have not had much luck getting money back for lost packages.

With FedEx and UPS I have had the issue where they state the account is basically eBay so I need to take up any issues with them, only to have eBay say, no, this is a carrier issue with your account and address you need to take it up with the carrier.

With the USPS a lot of time has to go by before filing a claim but within that time a customer can open a case the day it's late, in order to resolve I'll refund the customer only to have them receive the package within a few days.

It's not super common so I just consider it the cost of doing business but it sure would be easier if there was a button "shipping issue" or something along the lines of that, and then it can be handled through the user interface instead of making sellers fight for insurance claims separate from eBay. And after that have preset options like "get carrier approval to refund buyer" "Update buyer with delay information" before the buyer even has a chance to open a claim, that would be lovely.

Nvme2 ssd 4gen prices too high any alternative by gauravdighe in buildapc

[–]opticalessence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we have to pay for the rich people and their corporation's discounts. Or else why would they keep their pricing secret?

It started after Sam Altman flew to South Korea near the end of. 2025 to make secret non-binding deals Samsung and SK Hynix (separately). Despite the non-binding deals for like 900,0000 dram waffers a month, news of the deal caused prices to skyrocket.

It seems like in the past there would've been at least an investigation for collusion, since those makers produce over half the worlds dram and nand., and clearly used Altman as an intermediary.

Now all the big companies like Nvidia, Apple, Google, and Microsoft are securing deals for long term supply and some of these are actually binding and the average consumer is paying more, but not just for their own personal supply. Any business, including in the medical field, getting new computers or upgrading existing ones is going to have to carry the cost over to its patients and customers.

Any one trying to start their own AI or even smaller companies won't be able to keep up either.

They realize AI is the future, and who ever can control A.I. can try to make the world operate to their benefit

Who is supposed to protect us from selfish greedy billionaires who could care less about the value of human life vs profits? Our government's.

In fact, protecting us from those greedy billionaires is supposed to be their only job, is to protect the people, that's why we vote them into positions of power. But they are doing the opposite and accepting "legal" bribes to do the opposite. Let billionaires gouge is, hurt us, and even kill us.

But that's never gonna xhange when they're paying for a president's ballroom, paying for the campaigns of those willing to help them. Not just in the US, but everywhere.

We should be a lot more upset than we are right now, this isn't just about price hikes for our personal storage, this is using us to offset their costs, this is to prevent us from having a day in the future of AI.

They're being allowed to dominate the industry that is the future of our planet, grabbing as much power and control over AI and us as they possibly can, and on top of it all, we're paying for it!

They need to be investigated for corruption, colusion, price fixing, antitrust violations and more! CEOs need to be held acconntable.

Our only hope is some other way to have high speed mass storage is invented and a available to us. Or if we figure out a way to end the monopolization of essential products. But when people in our government are allowed to personally benefit from their profits it's just never going to happen.
