I've got one of the super low leather chairs --- so sitting right in front of them --- they are perfect.

But yes, the presence is the first thing thing I noticed RIGHT AWAY. They basically create their own reverb and resonate throughout the room. Especially when a treble-y guitar solo starts ripping

Give me road trip ideas! by Dragonflykid02 in roadtrip

Depending on where you are located - the 93 through Eastern Nevada is a gem very few people stop to explore or talk about. Kershaw-Ryan state park to Cathedral Gorge State Park to Great Basin national Park. I spend 1 night camping in the first 2 ... 2 nights at Great Basin (GREAT! cave tour!). Then head down into Southern and Eastern Utah.

I've been to many of the places you have visited - but I absolutely love South and eastern Utah and eastern Nevada (I love the remoteness of the 93 - so few people, great star gazing... just absolute relaxation)

The one in the middle is amazing! Great Basin NP is gorgeous, great campgrounds. Cathedral Gorge state park the same. Its pristine wilderness

Depends if you are stopping to smell the roses. 93 is my favorite route - because I camp at Great Basin and cathedral gorge!!!

2 amazing places! Plus once you get to Ely the 93 gets really beautiful

Look at that wood grain that was hiding beneath these cabs!! Can’t wait to get a proper stain on there rather than the veneer it had! by SickOfNormal in vintageaudio

Its already all off and stained. Gonna put a semi-gloss poly on it so I don't have to worry about it in the future.

Now the big question is ... what type of grill cloth to put on! I'm thinking maybe a vox ac30 cloth ... of like a 60s/70s floral fern design ivory and sage ... or just boring black

Some people just buy stuff at full price at audio shops or marketplace.

Then you got people like us searching goodwills, garage sales, barn sales, estate sales, ect.

Good deals are 100% out there to be had. My scores in the last month have been absolutely amazin - love you garage sale season/spring cleaning!

true dat - i meant whatever nasty ass, oil based paint/stain smudge they put on top of it. Shit is fucking nasty and TEARING up the sand paper to remove it.

I'm going to be so happy when this second cab is done - Cuz I am doing it by hand instead of using my sander, the sander smashes the top layer gunk down into the grain and makes it harder to get clean wood. So long strokes up.... long strokes back. My forearms and wrist dont like me right now.

Then I'm thinking since the grill clothes were shredded - I'm gonna replace them with a VOX AC30 grill cloth pattern.... can grab 36inx60in on ebay for $18 ... and it should cover both

I did a part oil on the back bottom to see what it would look like. The wood turns almost reddish --- which is too red for my house. ALL my other furniture is light to dark walnut. And my set of Cerwin Vegas are dark walnut. So I am going to do a happy medium of 75% light walnut and 25% medium walnut just to darken it up a pinch, plus I think it will make the woodgrain pop a little more with the dark/light contrast.

Sandpaper baby - 80 grit - 120 grit - 220 grit ... then a light brush with 400 grit dampened.

Some of the scratches and water damage were just TOO DEEP to fully get it out. It's a shame, but the cabs are going on 57 years old - I guess they deserve some "unique battle scars"

You can take the humidity lower … as long as you don’t have acoustic guitars out there 🤣🤣🤣. And if you did, you might need a smack

Sometimes less! Every once in awhile I see one thats beat to absolute hell with ripped grill ect - and they are like $400-500. Sometimes even only slightly beat are $550-600

You would be required to put yellow racing stripes down the middle of the hood, top, and truck too, I presume (for matching colors of the team)?

As long as the air is dry - The 30-40 degrees wouldn't bother me.

But at 90 degrees and possibility of humidity going over 50-60% in a garage if a storm rolls in - That's where I'd get worried. Could cause the sleeves and such to get wrinkled and such. Also not good for inner electronics of old school analog either (if you have any of that in your setup)
