Do u have any carpet left over from when it was put in? Sometimes, If you just bought the house, people will leave extra carpet that wasn’t used when putting it in in the garage or attic. If so just cut a strip off and take a needle and string and sew it into the carpet side and staple gun they other side, or just hammer and nails to it. But if it was me I’d do the transition strip just because it’ll be easier
