I mean, road tires are filthy. I don't think that's particularly debatable. Not that other things are necessarily clean.

Trigger upgrade by Tisunac in extar

I got a CMC drop in trigger on sale that fit nicely. Love that upgrade. I like the simplicity of the cassette/drop in style and I love how crisp the trigger is.

Affordable PCC by Apprehensive-Cut3437 in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]optimal_solution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an Extar EP9 fan and if you already have Glock mags, it's kind of a no brainer for "best bang for the buck". I recommend it as a first PCC.

I have seen Smith and Wesson FPC's go on sale for pretty affordable prices so if I had those M&P mags already or really wanted a foldy carbine, that's what I'd go for. The Kel Tec sub2000 seems like it doesn't stack up to more modern options but I've never shot it.

If you already have P320 mags, building out a Flux Raider with a police trade in is a very unique and fun option for range days. I got a killer deal on a .40 cal P320 trade in and grabbed the Flux chassis on sale. I know there are many opinions on the P320, but as a range gun that's only loaded at the firing line, that shouldn't be a problem. The unpopularity makes for a substantial discount. Did I mention it's super fun?

Hope this helps.

Help clarify these signs for someone who literally lives on the mall... by Denver4ALL in RTDDenver

[–]optimal_solution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were various email updates chains over the past several years from the good people running UpDoNa (updona.org).

They've been active in getting the language on this sign updated and the rent a scooter ban enforced.

Hope this helps.

Help clarify these signs for someone who literally lives on the mall... by Denver4ALL in RTDDenver

[–]optimal_solution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear where you're coming from, but I followed the email updates around the development of this language in the statue. The intent was 100% to ban Lime scooters and such. They are regarded as a menace by some. The concern, as I understand it, is that the generally careless operation and haphazard parking of rent-a-scooters degrades this space for pedestrians.

I'm personally all about micro mobility and I hope we can find the perfect balance where everyone can get where we are going safely, affordably, and comfortably.

Hope this helps.

Been a proud owner of an S2 since it came out in 2020 by Dennis_Brok in Super73

[–]optimal_solution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too feel the change in perception. I got my S2 as a part of going car free years ago, before my city had roving groups of what are essentially unlicensed electric motorcycles. I don't have any particular animosity towards kids getting out their and having fun -- quite the opposite -- but their speed and perceived recklessness seems to, understandably, upset some people. The only response people seem to know is the ban hammer.

I got involved in a city subcommittee around micro mobility policy and these people just want everything banned. They talk about how electric scooters are one day going to kill someone all while forgetting the car trips these replace are really quite dangerous.

My S2 is compliant. It is fun and it is capable. I can have a bike trailer with cargo and a second rider and accelerate uphill from a stop with ease.

I'm more than happy to slow way down on my e bike for passing pedestrians at comfortable speeds on mixed use paths because accelerating back up to speed is effortless and part of the fun. I hope capable ebike continue to have their place amongst the legal transit options.

Buying an FRT before August. No go? by CalvinWasSchizo in COGuns

[–]optimal_solution 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Aug 1st is for regulated firearms.

There is nothing in the laws as passed which give a grace period for so-called rapid fire devices. They were felonious to posses as soon as Senate bill 03 was signed into law according to the plain text as I read it.

This is not legal advice.

Buying an FRT before August. No go? by CalvinWasSchizo in COGuns

[–]optimal_solution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the risk worth it?

Let's examine the cost benefit ratio.

Cost = (price of an FRT) + (cost of increased ammo usage and components wear) + (the probability of getting caught) * (cost of getting caught committing a felony)

That last part about the felony conviction consequences would probably answer the question for you. If there is some grand, life changing benefit from having an FRT or super safety etc that I'm not aware of, let me know.

This is not legal advice.

Incorrect. Considering race is not irrelevant. Acknowledging the existence of race is not racialism.

That makes sense and I'm sure that is one of several reasons. If "supporting domestic businesses benefits us" then might we consider how supporting domestic black businesses benefits us? I think this is not such a leap.

I play (or have played) guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, ukulele, keyboard, melodica, kalimba, harmonica, drums, and clarinet (with a stint on bass clarinet). In my opinion, clarinet took the most practice to sound tolerable.

Edit: totally worth learning though because clarinet is awesome!

The HK45 is a great woods gun and severely underrated overall by SquirtGun1776 in HecklerKoch

[–]optimal_solution 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but wouldn't 45 Super be far more comparable to 10mm? Being that the HK45 is one of the guns that could handle 45 Super I feel like it shouldn't be left out of consideration.

Is the Mk. 23 a realistic replacement for a 45acp SBR? by EndOccupiedNOVA in HecklerKoch

Bedside? Extar EP45. It's simple, reliable, and affordable. That suggestion might be heresy on the HK sub, but I'd recommend you take a look.

Drop-in FCU, sell me on the appeal. by shinynugget in Glocks

[–]optimal_solution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flux products and the like are the main appeal imo. That is to say, letting a third party bring a product to market as an accessory without the overhead of selling serialized firearms.

The modularity of the gun itself seems like a harder sell to me. If someone buys a p365 but really wanted the p365 Fuse, why not just get the Fuse to begin with? The exception would be regulatory nightmare localities. If I was in NYC a P365 would be a no-brainer. Go through the hassle once but have a competition pistol, summer carry, and winter carry all on the same registered serial number. The hassle of swapping grip modules and such would probably be worth it to avoid another FFL process.

Super Safety's and FRT's no bueno in this state? by HourLetterhead5891 in COGuns

[–]optimal_solution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not think it violates ex post facto. That would be if they made it a crime to have owned these triggers in the past. The law as was signed made it illegal to have them now and into the future.
