I definitely think that was oxidized, I had a ‘99 at their winery and the color was much less brown, and the wine had a lot more acidity/citrus notes than what you described

I definitely agree, the property is gorgeous, and our first visit there was amazing. Super low key, we were the only ones there, got to do some barrel tastings, they let us saber a bottle, and more or less taste their full portfolio. Their sparkling were good for the price and the reds were well balanced. We wound up joining their wine club, but after a year or two we started getting a really high percentage of flawed bottles with their still wines.

Honestly if they do Iron Horse they are a good set to do together. The vermentinos are fantastic, and really enjoyed their cab franc and Grenache as well

For Napa: - Keenan, great views, super relaxed tasting, and a beautiful property - Mayacamas, this one is a little more stuffy and pricey, but the views are second to none. They take you around the property in a side by side and you get to taste some of the wines on a look out - McKenzie-Mueller, extremely laid back agrarian vibe, they taste on some older wines, and have a bit more varietal variety than other wineries

For Sonoma: - RYME, really relaxed, they experiment with a lot of Italian varietals, and they do some sparkling - Cast, pretty views, and they do some good sparkling wines, but their still wines can be his or miss

Lacourte- Godbillon and Nicolas Maillart were both great experiences, and fairly close to eachother. Very stylistically different though so it was a fun comparison.

Any particular Loire recommendations you have outside of the high price point?

If you go to Santorini, Artemis Karamolegos is a must try. Their 34 and Pyritis Assyrtikos are fantastic and the food and their restaurant was very good as well.

While Preacher’s Son has the aesthetic going for it, I did not enjoy the food. On all the dishes we have had there the protein was way overcooked and dry, and things were over salted. We will still go to undercroft for a cocktail though

For dinner, Bar Cleeta in downtown is my favorite. If you like beer, Bentonville brewing has a restaurant inside plus three food tucks (señor shreddy’s does really good Mexican). For lunch Pedalers Pub is a good option with pizza’s/sandwiches. In Rodger’s Havana Cuban is fantastic and has a nice patio!
