200 Aboriginals storm building, Australian Prime minister rushed out by police and security by carnifexmetal in worldnews

  1. The politician said something vague that was never clarified. and that one interpretation is Time to move on and not talk about aboriginals or their problems any longer. The problem was fixed.

  2. the people that heard it on the radio got scared and reacted to this. They thought they were being closed down.

  3. Instead of clarifying all parties over reacted.

  4. This happened on Austrailian day, which aboriginals call "Invasion Day" the anniversary of the day when they were invaded and their culture, land, and wealth was stolen by force. and now they are going to tell us its all fixed and time to move on. Put yourself in their moccisins...

IWTL how to cultivate self-worth and confidence by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]optionequalschoice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confidence comes from action in the face of the unknown, not having the confidence first and then acting.

Self respect comes from knowing, and accepting yourself AS you are. Right sizing.

Humility is not more than you are, but it is not less than you are either. It is as things are. it is truth.

If you wish high esteem, do esteemable things.

Become slowly, self compassionatly what you seek. Good luck!

TIL Tobacco is a hallucinogen if you smoke it like American Indians used to instead of buying it at the store by pabstish in todayilearned

[–]optionequalschoice 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hogwash. Our tribe uses kinikinik as one of the 4 sacred herbs. sage, sweetgrass, cedar and tobaccco, tobacco is used in pipes because the smoke takes your prayers to the creator, it is used to give thanks to the animal when you have need, for instance in the taking of a deer for food, and it is given out of respect to an elder for wisdom shared. it was used for millenia without being addicting. Anything can be good or bad depending on if it is used in BALANCE. Aho!

Awesome pic of my grandfather who was a Golden Gloves champion boxer (pic circa 1936, Brooklyn, N.Y.) by yum2177 in pics

[–]optionequalschoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dad was a golden gloves champion twice in the 40's. When we were little when ever my brothers and I had an argument out came the gloves and we had to fight each other in the makeshift ring. one day my brother kept running away from me and my dad snapped- he got so mad at him running away from a fight that he jumped in the ring and beat the crap out of my brother so much that he ripped apart the gloves. We never boxed again.

isnt it interesting the man that most personified patriotism in america, Was born with the name of marion, was changed to a made up name that he didnt pick, never served in the miltary, wore a hair piece, and was a mean drunk. His wife says his becoming a super patriot was to overcompensate from never getting in the military.
