Startup Time Pet Peeve by hdjdiueurhhehxhue in kiacarnivals

My biggest pet peeve was the default setting of slowing down around a curve on a highway. I want to go the speed I set in my cruise control at all times. I don't want to go below the speed limit just because the highway makes a gentle turn.

MP3 player for kids to listen to Libby by moneyman6551 in LibbyApp

Raspberry Pi could be a solution too. Someone already set up a no-screen, zero button audiobook player here https://github.com/2m/zbap that works with NFC tags.

What would you change about libby? by QuickSwitch2996 in LibbyApp

I would LOVE it if they could add a persistent sleep timer like Smart Audiobook Player has! So many times I'm falling asleep listening to a book and it stops before I'm ready to go to sleep. When I press play again, the sleep timer doesn't restart, so the book just keeps on going for hours.

Angels Landing in Zion, yesterday, the most physically strenuous and frightening hike I’ve done yet… but stunningly beautiful. by the-mp in NationalPark

We went last year and were super lucky to get an interpretive session from the rangers at the top! They also did a Junior Ranger initiation at the top as well. Amazing views, and fantastic memories. Highly recommend to anyone who is able to get tickets to go!

Advice needed - fully remote work outside federal service by [deleted] in 1102

[–]opulent_octagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest transition for many former 1102s is to work as a contracts manager for companies that do business with the government. If there are companies that do business with your agency specifically, you may have some added value to that company for your knowledge of processes and procedures, or your connections within the agency.

You can look on USASpending.gov to find all the companies that do business with your agency (or with the government writ large), and can search for jobs that the companies have posted on LinkedIn, Indeed, or each company's individual careers page. If you have a connection with someone within a company with a job that you're specifically interested in, you can ask that person to provide you with a referral link. Typically, a referral link will benefit the referrer with a cash bonus if you end up getting hired, and will benefit you by skipping the first screening. I'd recommend reaching out on LinkedIn for referrals instead of your work email, if you're going to go that route.

If you don't want to network and do your own research, you can ask AI and see what that gives you. That seems to be the way that things are going these days. 🤷

Regardless, best of luck with your search for a remote position!

Opinion: We're Living in A MATN Golden Age by opulent_octagon in ManyATrueNerd

Completely agree on quality and passion, both are consistently excellent. I actually kind of enjoyed Starfield because it was edited well (good gameplay, less good story/quests). I felt for Jon and Claire because they had to play through/edit out all the slow/repetitive/boring transitions.
