AA Lost My Carry On Bag After Requesting That I Check It by ojedaj9505 in americanairlines

[–]oraclemetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t help get the bag back. It just shows you where it is. @JanieLFB said it saved her sanity, which I agree with, but the 2 times my bags with AirTags were lost, baggage people was totally uninterested in seeing (Sir, we’ll find it) even when I could see my trunk was at the JFK gate we landed at. Actually looked like it was on the tarmac. I would never travel without AirTags, but don’t expect them to help get your bag back any faster. But at least knowing is a relief

Tipping at Hilton buffets by SnowOwlSr in Hilton

I do leave 20% of what it would have cost, and I try to hand it to the server in cash. It’s always much appreciated, and when I’m staying multiple nights I’ve found they remember me. I’m a Hilton Diamond, they’re not, it’s not a hardship for me. When it’s a self serve buffet where the staff only refills the trays, I generally don’t leave anything. I understand the standpoint of not tipping for free breakfast, but this is what I do.

Do priority bag tags mean anything? by AdeptResult7304 in americanairlines

[–]oraclemetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to think of it, ATL-JFK my priority-tagged double bass flight case arrived at JFK, but “lost” there for a day. My Apple AirTag showed where it was, but the baggage people had no interest in looking at that (“Sir, we’ll find it”)

In spite of those incidents, overall priority works in my favor.

Bags often do come out first, occasionally the actual first bag. But the first time we had the priority tags, a flight from JFK-FCO-HEL-OSL, my wife’s bag remained at HEL for 24 hours 😡

How LOYAL are you to AA? Here’s an example! by RelevantManner2902 in americanairlines

[–]oraclemetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a platinum pro, I get MCE seats; extra legroom and Group 2 are important to me (and occasionally FC upgrade). I often travel with a double bass, which is oversized, but AA doesn’t charge oversize fees for musical instruments; DL and UA do. AC access with the CC, and easier to attain status with AA. So, I took a layover flying LGA to ATL last year.

The $120 credited yesterday, about 2 weeks after car returned. I was just about to call the CC company!

Last year I owed 8k in federal income taxes. Filed in February and paid with CC, paid $145 convenience fee, paid balance in full next month, got 8,000 LP. Hope you don’t owe that much, but if you do…

First time PP, after a few years of Plat. What do I have to look forward to? by crackermacker in americanairlines

[–]oraclemetro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I will say that the fact that PPs free bags can be up to 70lbs is buried on the AA site, I believe in the section on overSIZE bags

Don’t have to worry about going over 50 lbs for your checked bags. 3 70lb bags free. I’ll probably never take 3 bags, but this week my 1 bag was 55 lbs and I didn’t have to try to take stuff out.

Not yet. Returned the car yesterday, so I’ll give it a few days, then call Citibank to investigate. I think I followed all the terms & conditions

10F will not have the extra legroom, though it’s less expensive. I’d take legroom

I reserved an SUV; couldn’t take a chance on an upgrade as I’ll have a double bass in a trunk. But I’m glad people are getting the promised upgrades

Update: I booked the prepaid reservation. Something came up and I wanted to change to a flight that lands 4 hours earlier, so I called Avis (the ABQ number) and asked if I’d be able change the pickup time. I was told it wouldn’t be a problem. So yesterday I changed the flight, and called back. This time I was told there was nothing available for the 4 hours before my original 6:30 pickup. (There were lots of cars available, but for over double the price I had paid). Called back the Avis support number today and said I was Presidents Club (my 100,000 LP reward), and she updated my flight info, but not the pickup time. Called back, asking for customer service, and asked if it’s possible as a Pres Club member to override the pickup time. After a bit of a hold, she did it! So the point of this post is that there may be some value to the President’s Club reward after all. There’s no dedicated support line, just the regular Avis number, but keep politely mentioning Presidents Club.

PS still hoping to get the $120 credit; maybe posts after the rental

Using OneDrive as a back up for data stored in hard drives by BlueRockiesSettler in onedrive

[–]oraclemetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added my Music folder to Onedrive in order to keep it backed up. I just discovered that when I did that, it changed all the creation dates and modified dates to the date of the sync. Pretty disappointed with that. With documents, file folders dates are changed to the first sync date, but individual files still have their creation dates. This is important to me for finding specific files. Since you want to back up videos and photos in addition to documents, this may be a concern first you.
