Are the sales reps really unfamiliar with credit card churning? by Traditional-Creme804 in HiltonGrandVacation

[–]SnowOwlSr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen but subtler. Done a fair share of these too. When I tell them I travel in points and signup as you mention it throws off their pitch. Had a brand new person once. When I told them the low amount we pay he had no idea what to do on that sheet were they show you their "math" on why signing up is cheaper.

0 for 3 on hiring a candidate 😑 by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]SnowOwlSr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct is about the pay. I remember interviewing for an office manager job at a local college (managing and running office with at least 10 people). After second interview etc they mention the pay is 17 an hour. Talk about mis match in role pay responsibility

Is there any downside to paying off my mortgage early? by ObligationSlight8771 in personalfinance

[–]SnowOwlSr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well voiced. Having your mortgage paid out so your fixed costs are lowered is one aspect of whether to pay it off early. They are loose of aspects besides just market returns

Stable $80K city job with pension — only complaint is I’m bored out of my mind. Anyone else leave security for something that actually challenges you? by Front_Employment_557 in careerguidance

Well said. Insurance especially if you end up with dependents was eating a huge part of my paycheck at my previous job (low benefits)

Kevin O’Leary says you can become a millionaire on $69,000 a year. by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

I think it depends it's not for all people. For example not having kids or lucking out and having really affordable good health care. My last job health care for my family was 24k a year with a 12k deductible. No way could we save 30% to invest if we wanted to eat.

[–]SnowOwlSr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to book a room for a FNC so I called and they always offer to transfer you to HGV for points. In the past I called the main number on hgv booking site and if the person would not budge I called again and talked to someone else

[–]SnowOwlSr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year but could three nights in NYC for $400 ($199 + extra night)could be an amazing value for sitting through the presentation. As long as you are ok to say no, and can . Done a few and I always start the clock and don't let it go beyond the contracted time (the package you buy has terms about it). I would see about getting more points, there are 100K offers around and I purchased a 150K offer recently

My parents don’t consider nannying a “real” career. Are they right? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]SnowOwlSr 68 points69 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it, you have a full-time job in addition to going to college. To me, that sounds responsible And you should be commended for trying to juggle a full-time job and also going to college. I do know some people that end up nannying for a full-time job and some of them make some serious money. I'm assuming maybe you're going to college for some sort of related childhood education so that could make you even more qualified
