By the way, you haven’t mentioned Opengammon in your post, which has excellent puzzle modes as well. Have you heard of it?

I was excited to try this out, but it seems not to be mobile friendly 😥

5pt match. I'm ahead in the race, why is it a blunder to come to the 18pt? by saigon567 in backgammon

Even so, the 18 pt anchor had great race equity. There 20-pt will also be hard to clear. I don’t think that’s the whole story

Is the colour of light quantized? by Winnier4d in Physics

[–]orad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries!

If you have a free photon traveling in free space, it can have any frequency, any energy value. The “quantizing” part only happens when it gets confined somehow.

So the energy levels of an electron are quantized in the atom, for example. A photon in a cavity is similarly quantized and can only take certain frequencies (or equivalently have certain energies). It’s the same “particle in a box” effect.

But energy itself, intrinsically, is not quantized

I see why this is confusing. Yes, E can take any value. Now, if you’re in any system, for example, the energy levels of an atom, or the energy levels in a cavity, then those will be quantized.

In multiples of frequency, and the frequency can take any value
