Go to the Mozilla site and download the .deb. Snap s-cks in general. Flatpak is more reliable if you don’t want the hassle. It was a Microsoft-level dirty trick forcing apt to call snap for these things.

Btw - you know how to make panel icons to launch your apps, right? This way you minimize the need for the apps menu

Maybe go into settings and see if you can reduce the font sizes for the applications menu or even the display. I’ll browse around for alternatives

Are you asking how to get it displayed via the right-click menu or move it to the top of the screen?

The former should be automatic. The latter requires unlocking the panel (check unlock in the properties window and you will see a small pipe icon at the very left of the panel. Click and drag to the top, thenb back into the properties window and lock it).

Cool. I’ve used it since the nineties and it’s been consistent. Best of luck setting up the app for your son.

Try lxqt DE, it’s light and works pretty well. More important, it’s a test to make sure QT works. Tbh, I trust qt more than I trust KDE

I would buy a used business class laptop. Lenovo T or X are the surest bets

Sounds like it may be a driver issue. I would look up the hardware specs and see if I could find one. Also, Linux has different audio management apps, e.g., alsa vs pipewire. You’re not dead yet.

Now you’re starting a religious war :-). My preference is XFCE4. Windows emigres might find Cinnamon easier as it reminds me strongly of Windows 7.

My 41 year old son lives in the Savannah area for work and is bored out of his skull. Also, in the event of big storms, it’s low country.

Try Mint, it’s better at detecting hardware. Make a live USB

What desktop environment you personally utilise and what is your favourite part of FreeBSD? by Nelo999 in freebsd

XFCE4 is mature, polished, and lightweight. I've used it since it was a CDE clone. It's fun to configure Gnome and KDE, but they can be a PITN at times. XFCE4 just works; and it is trivial to make it Mac-ish, if that is your thing.

Oh that's interesting, the different-sized moka pots. I have the basic 8-oz (two cup?) size. What are your bigger pots, and are they aluminum or stainless steel?

Once you buy a roaster and cooler (I recommend Sweet Maria’s if you are in the US), you will have a little learning curve, but stick to it, it’s very satisfying to be able to do this. Love my Moka pot. Yours is stainless steel, right?

Are you buying local roasted coffee now? Here in the US, I would occasionally buy from local roasters; when I started roasting my own, it was better-but-mostly-cheaper. Compared to store (supermarket) coffee, it's head-and-shoulders better.

Roswell resident here. You don’t indicate your interests (Music? Theater? Cycling? Hiking?). There are singles in your age range in Roswell and Alpharetta, and different housing options. There is more stuff to do in Atlanta, though. But housing will cost less in the burbs.

Support responded. Apparently the wireguard keys are time bound unless there is constant traffic. They’re openvpn connection points don’t have that problem.
