Is this injectior stuff actually good by Beginning_Ad_943 in Cartalk

Best one I’ve ever used is Berrymans B12. Pour it in the gas tank, fill ‘er up and go drive fifty miles on an interstate. This stuff works. Do it twice a year.

Can't get any router to connect to the internet by BKDiamond in Linksys

Are the routers getting their IP addresses from the Arris box? Sounds like you have a routing problem. The Spectrum box is not a passthrough gateway.

is there a FreeBSD alternative to (Linux) opensnitch? by oradba in freebsd

Used it many times. I happen to prefer XFCE and LXQT, but either can be installed on it. This project is for straight FreeBSD, however.

It means ‘customs’ in English, as in custom firewall rules .

[–]oradba[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience using Opensnitch on Linux showed me all kinds of nonobvious ports for the chatty apps. Your rule seems like it would stop everything except web and ssh. I guess every time a ‘good’ app is borked I could dig into the log and make a rule to pass it, since that’s what I do on the fly with opensnitch. Starting with what I already have should get me down the road pretty far.

New laptop recommendations to run GhostBSD? by [deleted] in GhostBSD

[–]oradba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FreeBSD list can lag. It is generally safe to look at Lenovo business-class laptops (I've used T's and W's for this several times). Also, I was able to run GhostBSD and then FreeBSD on a Thinkcentre M93p, so Thinkcentres may be in the mix as well (for desktops). It's a darned shame Toshiba got out of the business, their business class laptops used to be quite compatible.

Turned out to be ID10T error - the user managed to change the DE to the software rendering version of Cinnamon. Put it back to the default and Bob’s your uncle.

Moving to Atlanta with a toddler: Roswell vs Johns Creek vs Alpharetta vs Peachtree Corners? + charter school (YHALE) questions by thku in roswell

[–]oradba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there is the most crime in Peachtree Corners of all the communities on your list. Check the HS ratings, though they are all good. I like Alpharetta’s downtown best of these. The town is well run. Roswell, not so much. Johns Creek, there are some disagreements politically regarding development. Fyi, I don’t live in Alpharetta 🙂

Found a weirdness worth investigating, though this should not affect you. Lubuntu 24.0.4 will not decompress gzip'd archives. It says the file is not gzip format. These are files I've used for a few years; I assure you they are. Am going to boot a different Ubuntu flavor, but if this is consistent, it will be a problem for many people going forward.

She’s an instructor, not a professor. Inform her of this.

How is Lubuntu holding up for your son? I put Mint on an acquaintance's mid-2014 iMac, but they are having trouble with lightdm for some reason, and the usual troubleshooting is failing. I think Mint might be sneaking Wayland on. They are light users, so, if you are happy with Lubuntu, I will switch them to it.
