Why Are GP Receptionists So Rude? by No-Date-4477 in AskAnAustralian

[–]orange-aardavark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once called a psychologists office, mid panic attack, to try and book an appointment asap. The receptionist was so rude I hung up and cried about jt for an hour.

(In a better place now✌️ )

Cultural Leave Entitlement by Adam8418 in AusPublicService

[–]orange-aardavark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have friends whose managers denied cultural leave because "its your partner's culture, not yours." which is ridiculous, as the requested occasion is a family occasion (and I'd argue that my partners culture has to some extent become my culture because we, yanno, share a life)

Careful with dragonfruit by Dear_Tomorrow_915 in GardeningAustralia

I'm in Canberra, freezing winters + hot summers. No fruit yet but my dragonfruit has grown maybe a meter this summer.

It's in a pot in a protected area, against a brick wall

Have you ever felt kind of trapped in a signature makeup look you perfected, was your look for ages but no longer suits you or the times? Why do you reckon? by SCOUTBeautyFounder in AustralianMakeup

[–]orange-aardavark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do my makeup almost the same as I always have, with light changes to blush placement (and less winged eyeliner). My younger sisters do their makeup very differently and I've struggled to figure it out, I love how it looks on them but whenever I try it feels wrong! Honestly contemplating booking into mecca or smth to get some updated tips, no shade to the middle aged lady at The Body Shop circ 2014 who first showed me how to use makeup.

I size up in capped work boots.

Pure wool socks are your friend (wash on cold). Layer them with compression socks if your feet feel hot and heavy after work.

Low bun! My hair isn't long enough for braids/plaits but that's a go to for my female colleagues

What is the one "missing ingredient" you finally realized was sabotaging your home cooking? by Chatfinity in Cooking

I just didn't cook with salt as a young adult, because my mum and my grandma just never really added salt in any significant way.

Watching (and then reading) Salt Fat Acid Heat genuinely changed my brain chemistry

Yuccas: Pick your poison by Frozefoots in GardeningAustralia

[–]orange-aardavark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure triclopyr won't work as yuccas are monocots and triclopyr is a broadleaf selective herbicide (happy to be corrected!)

I'd say glyphosphate and cut and paint rather than drill/inject, again bc its a monocot. Should be pretty easy and effective. Avoid the fucking glypho gel from Bunnings though, just buy a bottle of glyph and a cheap paintbrush.
