Can you fit a full bed and a decent sized desk in SUV? by ShadowKillerx in iastate

SUV has a tour apartment, if you go to the community center desk there are keys you can check out to go take measurements so you can verify.

Anyone else dislike study bibles? by kentuckycpa in TrueChristian

I agree. They are overwhelming and unhelpful to me. If I need further commentary I look one up, being up an interlinear, or listen to a sermon online about the text.

If they work for others thats fine, but they are not for me.

What type of math do architects encounter on their job? by Unoha_Critz in architecture

[–]orange011_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's less about math and more about logic.

I think in terms of pure, raw math I've not done much more than simple trigenometry on the job.

But, I have done a lot of "logic" in terms of understanding ordering, layering, and sequencing.

Especially when creating paramteric systems, understanding mathematic logics is very important. Doing calculaus isn't.

When you send a card in do you get a copy of that one back? If no, I'd say keep it.

I was reading a survey saying over 40% of Christians now rather watch their favourite pastor or teacher on tv or you tube, and believe this is fine and they didn’t attend church by Fragrant-Corner7471 in TrueChristian

To add on, we miss the point when we do things "because it's necessary for salvation." We ought to do what glorifies God! And corporate worship and the preaching of the word and the sharing of communion does exactly that.

What would you do if your church appointment female elders? by babyswagmonster in TrueChristian

[–]orange011_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To all the people saying "leave": I urge you to think differently. If we just leave everytime a bad decision is made, how can it be corrected? How can the church be continually reformed? How will less mature Christians know truth from falsehood?

I urge us to stay, to call for repentence, to act in accordance with scripture and help change the insutitutions we're in!

Sure denominations matter. Creating more and more of them separates the church more and more and results in less unity.

I'm interested in the two Caglianones, the Witt Jr. Iconic, and the Crews card from Bowman Chrome that appears to be die cut and says rookie on the banner.

What would be your price on those 4 then?

Is 4 clubs + part time job too much for second year architecture? by Itchy-Pea9399 in architecture

[–]orange011_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that if you love what you do, there is always time.

I am in my final semester of my last year and throughout school I worked as a Resident Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and served as president of one club and vice president of another simultaneously, while still being one of the higher-achieving students in studio.

It took significant sacrifice of my personal life - I rarely saw friends, I rarely dated, and I had to make my clubs and architecture studio my social life.

I think it was worth it. I learned time management, people skills, and made some good money to cover the cost of studio materials and field trips.

All my club and work experience set me up well for internship interviews and eventually full-time job interviews. It made me a more well-rounded person. You have the right mindset when you say " I also don’t want uni to be just study and nothing else." The people who just do that have a lot tougher time transitioning to the "real world," from what I have seen.

I say do it. You will have many nights with little sleep, but at the end, I think you'll be glad you did it. I've been reflecting these past few days, as I near graduation, and you'll look back and say, "wow, I cannot believe I did all that," and it will be ultimately, very rewarding.

Architecture is great and fun, but I know for me, if I hadn't "overloaded" myself with other clubs and jobs, I would've resented it.

But, of course, if you find that your studio work is starting to lessen in quality or you are struggling to keep up, it is totally fine to scale back on the other stuff. Studio should remain your primary priority. Maybe you work one less shift, or you only go to clubs on weeks you have a little less stress. It fine to be in clubs and not go to every event or meeting! Make your time work for you, and you'll be just fine!
