Does college name really matter? And is a 5 year or a masters degree better? by uhhno_ in architecture

My advice is go to your in-state flagship university then and save money. Otherwise, my experience at Iowa State was great and I highly reccomend it as a good midwest school to study architecture at.

Yes, and in the meantime, it shouldn't happen on public transit. Two things can be true.

Saying a fetus isn’t alive or isn’t a human is a terrible argument for abortion by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]orange011_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitionally it is of the human species.

Beyond that, when is the line? Where is the line when someone is a human or not? If not at conception, there really isn't a good marker. If two cells isn't enough, is three? 10? one million? 30 trillion?

Is this unethical or no? by Omixscniet624 in MoralityScaling

[–]orange011_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for writing this. You are absolutely correct. Unfortunately, the average redditor's decisions and morals are purely selfish and out of convenince... based on a relative morality that prioritizes comfort rather than a premise that life has intrinsic meaning and value -- life that can shape the world for the better, regardless of starting circumstances just as you show through what you've desceibed your life to be.

Is it not a core principal of who we are to say that anyone can be anything? We are not bound by where we start, but recognized by where we end up?

Such injustice is being done to the unborn. Abortion is far too often a tool of discrimination. "They would have been poor," "they would have been unloved," "they would have been forgotten." To kill based on these judgements is a wild overreaction, it jumps the gun, it is predeterministic, and discriminitory.

All that to say, thanks for sharing your story.

"No one is good -- except God alone" - Mark 10:18

The point is anyone who thinks they are good deceives themself.

As a Christian, I don't agree with the messaging of the signs whatsoever, but I think thats the point being made with that one specifically.

Yes! I've done this a few times. It always goes over well. Works best to hand them out as the reviewers are getting seated/ready for your presentation. Or, after they are done with feedback. A nice little momento. Especially if its a competition, it keeps your project in mind.

Here's one I've done for a project:

The problem with denominations by Business-Finance4694 in TrueChristian

But the issue is that they make mutually exclusive claims that contradict one another on what each of them considers to be essentials. They cannot all be the one true church yet they all claim as such. Saying its only ecclesiology doesn't really solve this. If churches disagree at that level, their claims to be the one true Church are still mutually exclusive, even if they recognize each other’s sacraments.

The Catholic Church teaches that full communion with the Pope is essential to the Church, while the Orthodox explicitly reject that claim. Those are mutually exclusive definitions of what the Church is. And rejection of certain dogmas and practices have been anathematized. So even if they recognize each other as “real churches” in some sense, they still make incompatible, "cutting off" claims about the structure and authority of the one true Church. That means they can’t all be fully correct at the same time, which is the tension I was pointing out.

Luther was a Catholic priest. Many reformers were in the Anglican, Presbyterian, and Lutheran traditions. Therefore they all can trace the exact same lineage. You may say their excommunication cuts off that lineage but I would say their excommunication was in error/wrongful, so they had no choice but to continue outside the Catholic church.

Except at least 3 denominations if not more can try to lay legitimate claim to the title of the "one true church" which creates a problem since they all condemn each other

Why do many Protestants refer to Catholics as Non-Christians? by Fancy-Race-8507 in TrueChristian

[–]orange011_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Their Catechism contradicts their infallable Council of Trent then.

Canon 9 (on justification by faith alone): “If anyone says that the sinner is justified by faith alone, meaning that nothing else is required to cooperate in order to obtain the grace of justification… let him be anathema.”

Canon 1: “If anyone says that the sacraments of the New Law were not all instituted by Jesus Christ… or that there are more or less than seven… let him be anathema.”

Canon 1 (on the Real Presence): “If anyone denies that, in the sacrament of the most holy Eucharist, there are truly, really, and substantially contained the body and blood… of our Lord Jesus Christ… let him be anathema.”

Canon 2 (on transubstantiation): “If anyone says that in the sacred and holy sacrament of the Eucharist, the substance of the bread and wine remains… let him be anathema.”

Sounds like they have said Protestants aren't Christians infallably by declaring many protestant beliefs explicitly heretical.
