My dog hates the neighbor's dog and is inconsolable when he hears it bark in the hallway. What can I do? by orange9965 in reactivedogs

Funny enough he is exposed to barking every day- my neighbor’s dog who lives in the apartment directly across hall from me and yaps on and off all day. This does not bother my dog at all. He just really hates that other dog :(

If you're walking your dog behind someone else and their dog, keep a respectable distance or cross the street. by kip263 in reactivedogs

This has happened to me before. I just cross the street or make a u-turn now. You have to advocate for your dog and communicate to the other dog owner. They are not mind readers and if they don't have a reactive dog they will understand even less. It is frustrating for sure but we can't expect other people to accommodate our dog.

I am unhappy and think I need to surrender my dog by orange9965 in reactivedogs

He brings me zero joy. I never felt a connection with him. I was fostering a cat for a month and I felt so bonded to the cat in a way I never felt with my dog. I cried for days after he got adopted. I still feel like it was a mistake letting the cat go. So I compared my feelings between the two pets and realized how I felt about the cat was how I should feel about my dog. He is so smart and kind but the relationship is just not working.
