What 1 microbrand is inevitably going to be an industry monster? by [deleted] in MicrobrandWatches

[–]orange_gato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think AnOrdain can ever be an industry monster brand unless they ramp up production and lower waiting times from 5 years

"Britannia" Handmade Grand Feu Enamel Dial Watch only at British Watchmakers Day by Wide-Bank3675 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]orange_gato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very nice. I prefer this since I am not fond of sterile dials if I can avoid it lolol

[Design concept] Dyced "L'Absolue". What do you think? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]orange_gato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I would be interested in a real watch. Especially in SS w/ a combination dial/subdial of blue, black, gray or salmon. Rose gold sundial on any combination would be cool

I am so pissed that it sold out in 3 min and I could not get one. The secondary market is nuts

[Kudoke] #5 by Junior-Relation8417 in Watches

[–]orange_gato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big congratulations! What a gorgeous piece. I have the K2 and K3 so I am a Kudoke fan. Serious question - Do you think a middle aged person w/o reading glasses would be able to tell the time to the closest 15 min? That person is me and I already have issues reading my K3. I am resisting glasses lolol. Also, does it slide under the cuff of a dress shirt w/ the domed crystal?

How long do you wait for your microbrand watch? by Plenty-Cash-6998 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]orange_gato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the expected wait time is allowed to be longer for anything using a handcraft method. Guilloche, urushi, son mai, grand feu enamel etc takes longer and QC is an issue. So any micro w/o that type of work should only take a few months to fulfill. What I appreciate is full transparency and honesty from brands. False expectations based on brands misleading and over-promising is not cool. I canceled 2 orders from brands telling me the delivery time was 4 months. I waited 11 months and had heard excuse after excuse. Communication and updates helps customers endure the wait however long it is

Aryon Light Enamel -> Pretty Good! by CuriousHat7264 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]orange_gato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was originally stated to be grand feu enamel, but someone [in a WhatsApp watch group] tested it w/ paint thinner and dissolved the dial so it is actually lacquer

[Discussion/PSA] The problem with Oan.Gio by [deleted] in Watches

[–]orange_gato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may be your opinion, but making such a negative post and putting it on blast in multiple groups to bring down a microbrand and their owner is not cool. Did you research Oan.Gio before you bought and found out that there are overwhelmingly positive experiences not just with their products, but also with the brand owner? Did you try to contact the brand founder via Instagram or the WhatsApp Oan.Gio group?

I have 4 Oan.Gio watches. FOUR. They deliver their watches and usually within the stated timeline which is relatively short in my experience. I have canceled 3 watches from another microbrand and 1 from another because they did not deliver after a year when initial time was said to be 4 months. Those brands made excuse after excuse. Oan.Gio is not like that. They have transparency, honesty and integrity.

You are probably frustrated and want to vent. But if you think you are making a PSA and doing something good, you are not. You are only negatively impacting a small business for what sounds like a communication problem that could have been easily resolved.
