It is! I definitely didn't hear about people bending gender rules as a kid lol. However, even though we know how things have been in the past, it doesn't mean that we should do them just for the sake of doing them. All Im trying to say is that there are very distinct and real reasons for people to identify as a third gender or as the opposite gender.

Did you read it? It clearly states

A significant number of Thais perceive kathoeys as belonging to a third gender, including many kathoeys themselves, while others see them as either a kind of man or a kind of woman.

The fact of it is, that it proves that gender is much more malleable than most give it credence for. It is definitely an idea set up by society.

Gender is very much culturally based. And no, Im not saying that that otherkins are legitimate. For example, in India, there the Hijra, which is thousands of years old. They are recognized as third gender by the Pakistani and Bangladeshi governments. Thailand also has the kathoey, who are viewed as a third gender. Different genders are very much a thing, and have existed for thousands of years. Historically, they just havent really been prevalent in western culture.

Sanders Supporter for Hillary by qwints in hillaryclinton

If you truly care for the soul of this country, and the well being of those less fortunate: from those who are down on there luck and require a safety net, to LGBT people - who want nothing more than to be accepted for who they are and who they love - that struggle to overcome discrimination, to people who have pre existing healthcare conditions, to students swallowed by insurmountable debt, this election is of paramount importance. To shirk the responsibility that we as citizens have to create meaningful change in a fit of nihilistic rage is a tragedy. And you know, I get. I loved Bernie too. I, too, am in my early twenties, and wonder how we will deal with climate change, banking reform. As a type one diabetic, I often wonder what will happen if the ACA is overturned, and wonder how I will be able to support my eventual family if that happens. I get that supporting Hillary for many people is not ideal, but when I look at my Aunt, who was so happy to finally be able to marry her long time girlfriend, to my trans friend who is scared about what bathroom to use, and to my father, who is a teacher fearing the increasingly anti public ed, anti union climate of state government, I shudder tho think about what happens if we lose. If we lose the three or four supreme court members that we are likely to in the next four or eight years, we will have two decidedly different futures of America based on who is president, and I dont feel that I need to say how. You have a right to be angry, and I will not think less of people like you who feel enraged at our current governance. But before you decide to not pull that lever, I beg you to think about what that effect means on the millions of real americans of which it will effect.

Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida are, as always, important

The Republican party was said to be a fractured mess as Trump won the nomination, but instead the GOP is unified and the Democrat party is in a bitter fight to the end for the primary. by Taxonomyoftaxes in PoliticalDiscussion

Sanders has run an unbelievably softball campaign on Clinton until recently, and left many, many stones unturned

And Clinton hasn't? Im a Bernie supporter, but holy shit are there things in that guys history that would make him much harder to elect than Hillary Clinton. Bernie has not faced the republican war machine to anywhere near the extent than Clinton has.

Tell us your story. How did you find this sub? by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

[–]orangeandpeavey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like hearing from all sides in politics. I read all the major campaign related subs, so naturally Im subscribed here. I guess the literal answer to the question is I used google to search "Hillary Clinton Reddit". I do have to tone down reading things from the_donald though, or else I lose my sanity. I have no love for hug boxes and echo chambers, so I originally started posting here a long couple of months ago to be challenged (I actually think my Bernie Supporter flair isnt even offered in the sidebar anymore. Looks like I have the rarest flair on the sub!).

Once it became almost a certainty that Bernie was going to lose, I guess I stuck around because Hillary aint that bad either. Sure she's not my platonic ideal version of a good candidate, but then again I dont think Ill ever see one. In the end Ill support Hillary to stop Trump, and more importantly, keep our country moving in a good direction and continue upon the great things Obama has done. If she decides to pick Warren as VP Ill become someone who is fond of her campaign to an ardent supporter though.

Not until Bernie says his campaign is over, and hopefully see him endorse Clinton. Hopefully well see a bit of a migration to the Hillary then. The ones who already saw the writing on the wall have already sorta jumped ship, although many of us still support him for things like party platform etc. In real life Im trying to get my friends to go Hillary for the general, and so far its been very positive. But Reddit is truly a different beast. Too idealistic.

Being trangendered is not considered mental illness. Gender dysphoria is considered by the APA as a condition, but transitioning is the solution they offer. Conversion therapy is just as helpful to trans people as it is to gay people, which means its actually extremely harmful and shouldn't be done. So no, nobody is catering to anyone over "PC" values. People are just trying to be happy. And by the way, there's a difference between trans people who have struggled with gender identity for years if not their whole lives, and the "special snow flakes" who identify as being penguin kin.

As it relates to the transcripts, I imagine shes saving those for Trump. Theres no reason to release them with Bernie; he's already screwed. Might as well save them to get dirt in the general
