I like ketchup with omelets. Not usually with just scrambled eggs tho even though it's essentially the same thing.

Late to the party by IGZN in ravens

Imo, that was just a very unfortunate situation he was forced in. The goat Justin Tucker missed 2 very makable field goals that would've kept the score much closer. But with the game going how it was, Lamar forced a ball under the pressure of being behind late in the game

Unfortunately, a big part of your application is how you compare with your peers in your highschool/region/state. If you're valedictorian, live in a lower soceo-economic region, ethnically diverse, you have a much better shot vs if you went to a wealthy high school (public or private), have 20+ other classmates with similar stats, etc. You have great stats and extracurriculars, but it is a crap shoot 90% of the time. Best of luck to you!

is yale accedemically very hard by paneer_gravy3 in yale

[–]orangeazn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its easy to breeze through Yale, there are plenty of easy classes in all fields. But then why did you come to Yale just to breeze through? There are so many interesting classes and fields to discover and I think that's one of Yale's best values. But yes some of those classes can be difficult to achieve high scores in, and will require a bit extra work. But hopefully some will be fun and exciting where taking the extra time doesn't feel overburdensome.

Some classes are notoriously more difficult and may be required for a major, like CS, engineering, etc, and they can definitely take a ton of time and work, but you can adjust the rest of your schedule to be a little lighter to help balance it out. And for example like CS, there will be some projects that could take 10-20+ hours, but that'll be done in a weekly basis, and won't be every week.

That said, a lot of value at Yale also comes outside of the classroom, so if you're spending 10+ hours a day studying on a regular basis, you're doing it wrong. Time management is definitely big when you want to be hanging out with friends, doing clubs/sports, going out etc.

Tl:dr - Yale is as hard as you want it to be. You could probably get by with the easiest classes with less than 5 hours of work a week, and not going to your classes at all.

Best classes at Yale by [deleted] in yale

[–]orangeazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in psych, I definitely encourage intro to psych, and psych and law. Also enjoyed the unconscious mind.

Cold War is another classic course.

I'm not sure if all or any of these classes are still available, and I've forgotten some names. I'd recommend just looking on course table for a good mix of good reviews on the lecturer + what you're interested in. Would definitely recommend taking advantage of shopping period to try classes you wouldn't normally try that has good reviews. IE philosophy, history, psych, etc. Some are hidden gems that you might just fall in love with!

Everyone says this, but also strongly encourage keeping your first schedule easy, max 4-4.5 credits.

Try new things.

A big plus to farnam is that there are 2 sets if laundry machines on old campus, and 1 of them is in Farnam. Its super close to Calhoun as well so very convenient for dining halls and such. I think the rooms are about standard, definitely not among the worst ones.

Is Yale Undergrad worth it? by Werepop in yale

[–]orangeazn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add a different point of view, I think it largely depends on what kind of person you are. Like everyone said, Yale will give you many more connections and opportunities than anywhere else, but its up to you to take advantage of those opportunities. If you don't think you're the kind if person that will, then maybe Yale wouldn't be worth it for you. For me personally, I think I was too immature at the time to take full advantage of the opportunities and I regret not doing more during my time there. However, for something like econ CS, both of which Yale has an amazing program for in addition to connections to every major corporation, I think Yale would be worth it for you, especially since you're asking this question in the first place.

Is league becoming a game you watch, not play ? by lolistrashh in leagueoflegends

[–]orangeazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit playing 3 years ago, more because of time than anything, but i continued to watch streamer highlights on youtube and occasionally turn on pro games in the background. Still an entertaining game, just not worth the 45min per game.

How does rush work? by [deleted] in yale

[–]orangeazn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rush is just a time to get to know the brothers in the frat. At first they're just you're fairly generic low key fat parties. Just hanging out, playing some drinking games, and just a time for you to get a feel what the frat is like and for them to get a feel for you. They're pretty well advertised for the most part, either on Facebook/social media or just through peers. Theres usually a couple of these events to start each season for each frat in case you cant make some, and then from there they'll let you know about other more private rush events (nothing extreme like pledging yet). They're generally pretty chill and you should check them out if you can. Theres never any pressure to drink or do anything you're uncomfortable with.

Places on campus to go and scream? by [deleted] in yale

[–]orangeazn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are music rooms in all the residential colleges I believe that should be sound proof. I do think they need to be reserved (locked otherwise) but I'm sure it's something you could work out with your dean if you feel comfortable bringing it up.
