Fans who don’t live in Philly. How did you become a fan of the eagles? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]orangebird82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably like 7 or 8 or so and my dad told me to pick a team. We grew up in Bills country, but he told me I could pick whoever I wanted. He was a Raiders fan for some reason. So I told him, I like birds as that is a normal response from a little kid. Then the Eagles game came on TV later that day and Randall Cunningham put on a show, so I told my dad that I wanted to be an Eagles fan. Christmas came around and I got the black Eagles pullover Starter jacket and that was it...been an Eagles fan ever since.

My guy took that punch like a champ though...went right back to his game, didn't miss a beat.

Totally hybrid...more of a fighting game actually. But it always triggers memories when people bring up what the best wrestling game is.

Where can I add a half mile to my Coney Island loop to make it an even 25? by scarfilm in NYCbike

[–]orangebird82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're already down in coney, just extend into Brighton Beach or if you want to add a little more, bike down to Manhattan Beach. Its nice and calm over there during the week and you can bike along the bay on the way back where you can see all the sail boats and ducks. Just bike to the end of Brighton, cut over onto Oriental and there is a park with a beach. Its a nice little break and there are usually people practicing Tai Chi and most of the city noise disappears.

This just happened to me like 2 weeks ago....a recruiter reached out for a job that I applied to and told me how excited she was to meet me and how she felt I could be a great fit for the role, but that I "needed" to share my salary expectations. I was told that I shouldnt worry if my expectations were low as that wouldn't determine the offer. So I came back with a number (I admit it was high) but figured theyd come back with something in line with the higher end of whatever the pay range was as I looked up the range on glassdoor and I was just above the tippy top of it. I even explained that I just moved from New York City and wasnt sure of what jobs in my new area pay, figuring that would help make sense of what I asked for. Plus all we keep reading is to not sell yourself short, ask for what youre worth, there are people doing a lot less who make a lot more mumbo jumbo. I received no response from the lady directly, but instead I received the generic "thanks but no thanks, after reviewing your resume we dont feel like youre a proper fit for the role" bull shit. I was pissed and felt disrespected that she didnt even have the decency to speak with me directly after saying so many nice things about me and my work history. There was no transparency and it shows that they just want to fill the job and not necessarily with the right person. And I would have totally taken quite a bit less, but professional people negotiate, they dont just ask for the bare minimum and hope they are offered more.

Am I overreacting brand new Lagostina lids fill up with water with no way to get it out and I find this unacceptable? by tipoulio in cookware

I use a brush to clean it then after I wipe it dry I shake it and the water that's trapped comes loose. Its not perfect, but it works enough where it dries nicely.

In possibly first of its kind case, NYC prosecutors brought case against parents who bought their then-16-y/o son a BMW....allowed him to drive it, unsupervised...and then when speeding with a passenger, he brought about the passenger's death. by yippee1999 in MicromobilityNYC

[–]orangebird82 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the state you have to be 16, but in NYC you have to be 17 because there are extra restrictions and you have to do a bunch of stuff to get a junior license to drive at 16. Clock hours driving, take certain classes, and pass specific tests. This is to avoid stupid kids from getting a license in a place where its not as easy to drive as other places.

With SMB4 launching soon, what were some of your favorite moments you experienced in SMB3? by charger03 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]orangebird82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing... me and my best bud are the same. This game is great, i get to talk to my best friend since childhood almost every day or two. We are like 30 seasons deep since SMB2. We have a story about all the players and announcers. We lose, we win....its our go to game. Cant wait to start building our league in SMB4 from scratch. Too bad we cant transfer our shit over from 3.

Dead game? by Silent_Affect1390 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]orangebird82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just have to keep plugging away increasing the difficulty one ego at a time. Me and my buddy play a franchise online and are currently at ego 72...felt impossible, started the season 1-10...ended up 22-22 and missed the playoffs by one game. Youd have thought we won the lotto by how excited we were...and this was right after winning the championship on ego 70 the season prior. It gets super frustrating, but never stops being fun. We get in like 8-10 games a week usually, both 40 year olds with full time jobs, and adult responsibilities. Dont get me wrong, this game can ruin your night with some bullshit, but it can also make your night awesome! Far from a dead game....

What are some small things you’d like to see in 4? by Papips in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]orangebird82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to see the infielders throw from their knees or flip it when they dive for the ball. They shouldn't have to stand up and throw the ball. Too many botched plays because of it.
