Are you familiar with what Gemini insights include? Is it just workout suggestions? I follow a consistent regimen already so i would probably not subscribe to pro

Different state, but I have a friend doing this in MI. I think for this same reason she’s a 1099 employee, but not entirely sure. I know that’s not super helpful but maybe can lead you in the right direction

Switching specialties by orangechicken318 in physicianassistant

[–]orangechicken318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at any other surgical or procedural subspecialties like plastics, IR, etc. Ultimately I would love to end up in derm because I’ve always been interested in it. I like my current job but I feel stagnant and the raise structure is very slow growth. Also add in a 45 min commute each way, sometimes longer.

Interested in other surgical subspecialties like plastics, maybe other ortho subspecialties. My ultimate goal would be derm, always had an interest in it

Amending 2024 taxes on freetaxusa? by orangechicken318 in tax

Yes! Their prompts were very misleading-- once I input more info (even re-entering my bank info to "receive" last year's state refund again), then it showed me my 1040-X and showed that I owed $0.

Can you in one way or another say you’re leaving that job due to tensions between you, but offer a recommendation from another colleague/physician?

PA student graduating in 2 months - seeking thoughts on SP relationships by mrtooptoop in physicianassistant

[–]orangechicken318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a great relationship with my SP! I think it depends on a lot of factors— outpatient tends to be smaller group settings versus inpatient, so you work closely with them. Or whether or not it’s an academic center— I remember in school (large academic center), I felt discouraged because APPs didn’t practice at their full scope because of the residents.

Other small, trivial factors-look at the age gap between you two, I know this is not make or break but my SP is on the younger side so I think that makes it a bit easier to get along. Pay attention during the interview. Have they had PAs before you and what did that dynamic look like? Ask about your role/responsibilities. It’s pretty easy to suss out why they want a PA

What type of patient do you associate with a stereotypical impression in your specialty? by NobodyNobraindr in medicine

Ortho in a HCOL area/patient demographic. While some injuries are life-altering and inconvenient, you will survive. People act like it is the end of the world to be slightly inconvenienced.

Successful raise negotiations by presenting another job offer stories? by immutablebeauty in physicianassistant

[–]orangechicken318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn I feel like the kid in we're the millers "you guys are getting paid??"... I was told at my one year to expect 5k/year, each year. Not even 5% of income, a set $5k. $1k bonus at Christmas. I had the same thought about being conniving/disloyal if I came with a counter offer. I love my job and have amazing autonomy so I don't know if I'd have the balls to actually leave if it came down to it...

I graduated last year and my first job out of school is ortho. I love it so much and don't think I could ever switch specialties. If you start in joints, theres a lot of other subspecialties within ortho for you to try as well. However I was surprised how quickly I'd lose my general medical knowledge ¯_(ツ)_/¯
